Are the C stands worth the extra bucks? I've looked at them but got B&H's Impact boom stand, mostly metal. lol Never seem to have enough sandbags.Neewer heavy "C" type stand with boom arm, for overhead lights, camera shots.
Sand bags.

These are $4.50 each in packs of 4. Saddle Bag style with 2 top strap handles.I have plenty of second hand " three leg" stands, usually about $30 -$45 for three, but when I free lanced, I liked the heavier "C" type for their weight, clamps included, so yes, I think they're better stands but a pain for location shooting, because of the multi piece assembly, weight.
Amazon offered a good discount on these one set only offer, so I jumped on it.
The sandbags are well priced, but if you grab some intact blue jeans at thrift shops, yardsales and Salvation Army discount day, the legs make good bags, one set per jeans.
Cheers

4x Counter Balance Sandbags Sand Bag for Photo Studio Light Stand Boom Arm
Interesting, B&H Impact stand are light but I wonder how durable.
These are actually very good. 2 layers of heavy fabric and 2 zippers on each side. 4 years on the first set and they are wearing well. With so much on the market, Iβd shy away from the cheapest and top expense offerings.
Simple fabrics will allow fine sands to bleed through, so pay attention to linings for painted/rubberized barriers.
