Thanks to NedL starting a thread about the process, I've made half a dozen "Namias sepiaprint" 10x8 contacts in the past few days.

(its similar to VDB).

I just placed in the wash several Ansco Portrait Proof 5x7's I developed in Moersch Easy Lith, 2nd pass and regular darkroom lith. Second pass print was the second best of the prints I did earlier today in Ilford Multigrade to see how how this paper looks, and another will get toned later. The paper has an interesting, rough finish.

I finally developed the 6 sheets of 4x5 HP5+ that have been waiting. There are two car shots that I can't wait to see how they turned out. I don't know the car owners, but the negs look cool. The other four were all shot at Ohiopyle.
Hopefully Friday will be a darkroom day and I can do contact sheets and some lith prints. Of what, I'm not sure, yet.

I just developed a roll of Ilford 120 FP4 that I shot today in a coffee shop. This film probably expired 10 years ago and has been hiding in the bottom of a camera bag all that time. It went through hundreds of xray machines as I traveled with no sign of any deterioration. Souped it in PyroCat-HD as per Massive Development Chart. Printed it onto Ilford pearl RC VC paper. Used Ansco 130 paper developer.

I developed two rolls of Delta 400 from my newly-repaired Norita 66 bodies, just throwaway rolls to make sure they work. Spent a couple of hours in the darkroom last night working on a project and loathed everything that I printed. It was a bit of a depressing session in the darkroom, but hey, it happens. Back to the drawing board.

Printed the reverse traveling negative this past weekend on Multitone Glossy MG RC. It became a bit difficult when my only 75 watt bulb died and the 150 watt normal bulb ended up being a 8 second @ f32 print time.

Developed fifteen 8x10 negatives -- ten yesterday, five today, Nice rainy day activity -- especially when the images are of the desert! Joshua Tree Nat. Park and one in the Alabama Hills. With Rollo Pyro in Expert drums. Dang -- I just heard one hit the floor. Too much fan, I guess.............I just put it back in the photo Flo and I'll re-hang it in a couple minutes. Bummer.

From four separate 6 x 6 cm negatives - three 24 x 24 cm prints (on 30 x 28 cm paper (before trimming)) of each.

From one 35mm negative - three 24 x 24 cm prints (on 36 x 28 cm paper (before trimming)).

Once bleached and toned (different for each image), one of each is for matting and framing, for display at a show that my "Art Photography" group is hanging for the month of April.

More details to follow!

Developed 6 rolls of 828, of which 3 came out great, one had print thru from the backing paper, and 2 had the film sticking to the paper. These last 3 I got on a lark-- they were billed as just above trash, water damaged, and they were all expired in 1951. But one of the sticky rolls may scan, and the print thru one was Panatomic-X that I shot at box speed and it still made a nice image. I have now found the outer limits of expired film-- it isn't the age so much as the storage conditions that'll get you in the end.

A roll of Fomapan 400 in ID-11 stock solution.
This time the neg looks gorgeous and free of any manufacturing defects.

A test roll of Acros 120 format to:
  • check for light leaks in a new Hassy I got working (if you consider 1973 new)
  • check the slow shutter speeds on recent lenses (50mm cf, 120mm cf makro)
  • check pyrocat-HD dev times because I've never used it with Acros
Lessons:
  • 6.5 minutes @ 75deg (continuous drum rotation) is a decent starting point, I have no idea how Massive has entries for 19 minutes...
  • The pyrocat-HD I used had been sitting unopened on my shelf for 18 months, bonus points for longevity
  • Handheld at 1 second exposure equals glorious bokeh
  • Technique required for good shots is demanding, even with 12 exposures I can see the ones I rushed
