I have two of the 8x10 black print drums. I used auto gasket material from the auto parts store. Works pretty good. I just loaded four sheets of TMX100 in one yesterday. Actually I could use some more of the same drums. The 11x14 will do four 5x7's (havent done that yet). My 16x20 will run some 8x10's (haven't done that either).

I have 2500 JOBO Multitanks 4 and 5 and use it for 6x9, 4x5, 9x12, 120, 220 and 70mm. And of course 35mm. I run the JOBO tanks on my Unicolor Uniroller and it works great

I agree. I've been using Unidrums for my LF processing for at least ten years now. I even do C-41 in them and it works fine--I preheat the drum with hot water and it holds its heat for the required 3.5 minutes very nicely.

Sorry to reawaken this old thread, but I've got a unicolor film drum II that I'm trying to revive (all the parts broken, ofc). I already made a piston seal model in fusion360 that I'll print in rubber like elastic resin, and now I noticed that the cap died on me as well. Is there any chance OP would be willing to share the STL file they used to print theirs? Happy to share my piston seal STL as well!

thank you! I am using fusion 360 so DWG should be fine. In the meantime I gave it a shot myself, let's see if I measured everything correctly.
Any interest in a 3d model for the rubber seal? It can be printed in TPU or elastic resin (the latter is what I had done, still waiting for the piece to arrive in the mail)

p.s.: I really want to make this work, I think this drum has a bunch of features that can make it superior - the insulation and the piston are just fantastic

I printed one and it was a tad small, does not quite seal. I have a NIB unidrum. I took the seal off and it is about the same size as the drum inner diameter ( slide fit ). Your part seems to be 91.5mm, The drum is closer to 92.5mm. I am printing a new seal at 92.5mm, will let you know how it works out.

92.5 was still too lose. I remeasured and will try 93.6 next

93.75mm seems to work. I printed this one and it's water tight. Will need to run some film and see if it holds. I find that developer and fixer seem to leak more easily than just water.

Interesting,I wonder if your drum is a tad larger than the Filmdrum II that I've been measuring.
Either that or I measure poorly (entirely possible)

Can't use any of those. I'll get around to redrawing sometime. As it is the seal works, I did go to a full 94mm.

I wanted to pull out the inner tapered face so that it will push out the sealing ring just a bit more.

uops forgot to update to 94mm

I think that will help me redraw. But it is working well just bump out to 94mm. I did this just doing an X-Y scale, so everything increased in thickness and size a little bit. The seal I'm using is printed with 40D COEX TPE filament.

Hi,

I just processed 2 sheets of 4x5 in the drum using the 3D printed rear seal. It was completely dribble free. The 94mm seal for some reason wanted to resist going in when it was in my film tent, all the other times I tried it, never had an issue. Perhaps just afraid of the dark.

I redrew my cap to get rid of the faceting that was on the original. I printed this version and it is water tight on my drum.

for the sake of the thread, I still haven't managed to have mine printed! But it seems like we have a working model now, which is fantastic. Hope that helps keep this drum alive!

Hello all creative people - I just bought a Unicolor drum and the roller. The drum is all leaking and the seal cracked into pieces. Could you please help me with following (may be stupid) questions?
1. They said I can process photos(exposed paper) using this. Inside the drum it’s smooth surface. Is it true? Have I bought the wrong drum? I want to process the color prints, I already have a Paterson tank to develop reals.
2. Have you got any success with the 3D printed piston O’ring and the cap?
