Reflecta RPS 7200 - any opinions?

I went for the SE Plus version. I would have liked the Studio but I didn't really need the advanced batch scanning and couldn't really justify the IT8 target. I really like the interface, it's quite similar to Nikon Capture NX2 which I use for digital image processing so it feels comfortable to me. There do seem to be a few bugs that I've met so far, but nothing too annoying. The upgrade said I had to close Silverfast to upgrade when it wasn't running, so I had to do a reboot, download the upgrade and do it again, and the save path under Windows 7 doesn't seem to work properly, the images are dumped in some odd places, but perhaps I haven't worked that part out yet. The scans are wonderful though, the multi-exposure works really well, no issues with film flatness. With Velvia scans, the colours and detail really jumps out. It's made me want to shoot velvia in 35mm again when I was moving towards medium format. 10"x8" prints from velvia scans are just wonderful, and it can stand printing to 12"x16" without too much of a stretch.

The IT8 was a GREAT surprise, after calibrating, I scanned a cpl of frames of Superia 1600, added the corresponding negafix profile, and BAM, great colors instantly!! Tonight I'm going to play with multiexposure to see how much more that improves the result.

Yes, a bit shaky at first, I had a few crashes and finally after finding out that the r24 build was the one that worked best on my system, I rebooted, and then after that I had no more problems.

It is great! I'm rediscovering my love for 35mm colour (I develop and print black and white in my own darkroom, but have been doing more medium format colour recently). There is just so much detail in a 35mm negative/transparency, it's amazing. I've also now managed to get Silverfast to run under Virtual box in Ubuntu Linux. As I can save the state of this, it's essentially just like clicking on an icon in Linux to get it to work, and there seems to be no performance lag either.

Well, it's taken me a while, ok, a very very long time, but here is the scan of Portra 160 at 7200 ppi on the reflecta RPS. I think it resolves to about 60 lp/mm...
