I finally mixed up my ECN2 chemistry and then shot a couple rolls of 250D to do a side by side comparison of using C41 vs ECN2. To my eyes, each worked slightly better is certain images than the other. The ECN2 seemed more saturated ( almost too much in some cases ). The C41 seemed to have a more natural look to greens. All in all, I like the C41 processed results better, but its close. If I were not looking at them side by side, I could take either one.

The C41 images are a bit brighter as scanned. If I darken them, things look even closer. What I'm posting is as they were scanned.

Nikon F100 50mm f1.4D and 20mm f 2.8D.

I don't know when it was made, but it probably expired about 15 years ago. I love this film!

ECN-2 home brewed chemistry, Kodak formula Rem-Jet remover pre-bath. Directly exported JPEG from VueScan, no adjustments - just resizing!

Nice shots lamerko. I suppose the blue tint has to do with the age of the film. Can that be corrected digitally?

Takes two seconds and a few clicks and the tint can be eliminated while preserving overall blues.

Left - ten second correction, right - original.

White balance on the tree on the right, and then a slight desaturation of the blue due to the shadows of the snow. They always come out blue…

It is proper to take that picture on VIsion 3 500T film.
C41 at 100F 3:15
dev FLexicolor Bleach and fix Hunt.
I like the colors but I wonder if we match ECN2 temperature the results will be better as far as detail and sharpness…
Or maybe my bleach is exhausted.

You could use 85A / B filter to help with daylight colors. Unfortunately since c-41 uses a different developer type (CD4) vs ECN-2 (CD3), no changes to the dev can fix the colors.

I like the colors. Sharpness is lacking.

As long as the negatives aren't too thin, sharpness could fall to sufficient bleaching and fixing. Process shouldn't affect overall sharpness.

Some of the pictures I took on Cinestill 50D and developed in c-41 are the sharpest I've ever seen from that emulsion. 500T is less sharp but still remarkable for its speed.

Raising the temperature will result in more contrast, but also more grain. You probably won't like the result. Try to reduce the speed when shooting - 200/250 АСА. If the film is old - even at 50/100ASA. This will reduce the grain, also the contrast, but you might get what you want.

ECN-2 develops in higher temp. I am just assuming the ECN-2 Film might like higher temps.

No halation!!! “Those bulbs are out of focus.It’s not halation.”
The remjet is really worth it. Lit parts have great separation. I even have a light blasting in the lens.
Shot at F1.4 50mm Minolta AF. Kudos to the Minolta coating And the ramjet.
Little funky in extreme corners edges but overall great picture.
Really like how good the 500T work indoors shot at 800.
Lack of grain in the shadows is outstanding.
The SilverFast iSRD took care of the ramjet particles perfectly.

Yes, but you write that you are using a C-41 chemistry that uses a CD4 developing agent versus the CD3 in the original ECN-2 chemistry. CD4 is much more intense - almost double. Separately - it is contained in a larger amount in C41.
Remember, you're already doing cross-processing, which raises the contrast and saturation significantly.

I do not know this. Processing C41. I realized that red changes to blue, cyan to yellow, light blue to orange, while green retains its color, or becomes turquoise. In this case, the body color becomes close to black / white. Damn interesting combination, but you need to understand this at the beginning of shooting

I went out and shot some 250D today. Even though I like the results in C41, I still had some ECN2 I mixed 2 months ago ( April 1 ). So I decided to use it and see what the results are like. It was early morning light, about 6:30 AM. I have some Robins that nested just outside my kitchen window. You could see them grow daily. I expect they will be out of the nest real soon now.

Here are some results with the 2 month old QWD ENC2 chemistry.

Did you mean to say that you got it from Kodak? Unless I’m mistaken, cineStill has never, nor probably will ever, offer bulk rolls of film.
