If this thread keeps growing it could exceed the length of the dreaded Kodachrome has been deleted thread.

i am starting to think the re-introduction of ektachrome
is like the recent reintroduction of kodachrome ..
and instead of film, its going to be a $9'zine that is
full of articles reminiscing about
the good old days when the film was around
and they're going to give away
drinking cups made from panalure photo paper

:whistling:

It would not surprise me to see the new Ektachrome before Ferrania chrome ...

No doubt, we're talking about Italians after all. They work on a more...relaxed? time frame. Slow food, slow drink, slow film. All good.

I wonder if the development kit rumor is just an amalgamation of 2 separate events.
If Kodak is successful in re-establishing Ektachrome, they will probably reintroduce an E-6 kit manufactured by someone else, as well as make Kodak-labeled chemistry available to labs (relabeled product made by someone else).
Kodak chemistry could be interesting, as 8mm Ektachrome would be marketed by Eastman Kodak, and 35 and 120 by Kodak Alaris. Would each market separate chemistry to it's target users and labs?

If they reintroduce E100VS, I could finally be tempted back to shooting in colour... If Ilfochrome was reinstated at the same time, I definitely would.

Let a man dream...

Any official update from them since the announcement? It's been five months...

I've not seen anything anywhere. I can understand companies trying to promote forthcoming new products by announcements to build up customers' expectations, and five months' silence isn't encouraging.

If the will is there a huge company like Kodak ought to be able to deliver. A failure to would not look good.

Over on the Ferrania thread there are numerous people endlessly complaining that Ferrania promised a timeline and has not met it's target. I'm sure at least one person from EK or KA has been following that situation.

I doubt we here anything from either Kodak entity until the product is ready.

Eastman Kodak isn't a big company anymore, only about 6,100 employees.

For sure it is !

I've remarked elsewhere. I expect the film to be awesome with some boneheaded flaws. Like Italian super-cars or such. Amazing looking machines with stunning performance but the windows don't roll up when the temps go below 62 and the headlights turn on when you hit the gas, horn and left blinker at the same time.

I drive a Fiat - it is a wonderful car!
It does have character.
Even if my loyalty will be to Ektachrome, I'm really rooting for Ferraniachrome.

Movie labs would tend to just mix chemistry from scratch I would think. in fact still labs also used to do that. both can buy ready made concentrates from industrial suppliers, often in quantities to make 100 litres.

Kodak Alaris MIGHT activate a small users kit from their current chemical supplier, from Germany, who already sells suitable kits under their own name.

Happy that I did not buy a lot of expired Ektachrome 200 some time ago. Means I am forced to support Kodak (And the film industry as a whole) and buy some of the new film. 2017 is both a good and bad year for film.

I can't wait!

Do you think this is just a side effect of Kodak wanting a transparency film for their new 8mm camera?

I stopped shooting slide decades about, but I would like to see Ektachrome come back.

If Kodak reintroduce Ektachrome only as part of a processing kit and only sell it through one outlet then they're not going to make much money out of it.

I just remember the amoud of Ektachrome Kodak stated they will produce AND sell : 10.000.000 ?

May be they are planning to sell
1.000.000 of new Developer Kits ?

Their calculation is quite solide from my
point.

Szenario A : Within 8-10 years.
Szenario B : With a price $ 5,85/Film
$12,90 /Film and Kit.

My expection to price is $16,90 - 18,90/Film:cry:......

So it is possible they have plans to sell
a kit with Film at about $ 29,80...:D:happy::laugh::errm:.

Many doubts to 10.000.0000 Films/year:redface:.

Let's wait and let us see what will happen.

Oh sorry I tapped one "0" more at the last sentence.

.......perhaps Kodak did it also in their anouncement to production plans of
Ektachrome.?????

Welcome to APUG

Remember prices Sirius Glass in 2003 - 2005 : $ 27,99 to 10pcs.
$ 79,80 to 20pcs. (professional version as "short run" = expired in 10 weeks).

2006 : $ 32,-10pcs.
2007: $ 34,- - $ 37,- 10pcs.
2008: $ 31,99 :surprised:....wondering but they it comes : to 5 pcs.:mad::mad::mad:.
2009 $ 38,90 - $43,90 ... (5pcs.)

Last price i personaly saw : $49,90 (5pc.)

Later on ebay up to $79,- (after Kodak announced discontinue of all E6 due to
less demand AND ineffiziency in concern
of production???????

Kodak created a "self - nurturing wait spiral" with this kind of price policy.
Hope they learned about from failures
in the past.

What a devil. ....."macfred" Hope my Smartphone isn't infected from it when I
trust to quote you now.

To Ferrania : It seams to me they would need $10.000.000 in addition to their
Kickstarter Campaigne.

And now P 30 with scratches is their last hope to get money. .......many many
doubts on it .......

Kodak and kodak-alaris are basically planning to split a batch of Ektachrome, part as Super 8 for the Super 8 Camera Kodak themselves are marketing and the rest for Alaris to sell in 35mm Still format. No word on any 16mm movie stock. presumably the Still film may have the extra lubrication that would work for Super8. But that should not cause any issues.
