Clearly, Nzoomed and keenmaster 486 need to become APUG subscribers so they can access Photo Engineer's APUG Gallery - if only so they can see him in his flight suit:whistling:.

Tsk tsk tsk Matt. I wouldn't keep these guys from this treat!

But my real prizewinners are in my gallery and I'm thinking of adding more! You guys should support the site if you are going to comment so much!

The above picture was on old Ektachrome and was fading badly. I did a straight color correction in cyan to fix the fade.

Here is an earlier photo taken on Kodachrome. It did not fade one bit. It was taken about 5 years before the one above.

Put some money into APUG or it might vanish!!! You cannot spend everything on film!

Awesome photo! (the kodachrome one that is!) You sure have had an interesting career.
Ive flown an A37 dragonfly a couple of years ago at our local airshow, awesome experience!

Anyway, I was out shooting film today and my friend was with me.
He saw me using the film camera and he thought it was awesome and mentioned how film is starting to make a comeback like vinyl.

It made him think about shooting film again, as he uses digital like the 99% of everyone else.
Then he bought up the topic of Ektachrome and asked me if I knew that Kodak was bringing back Ektachrome. I replied to him "I sure do!"
I was very surprised to hear how he had heard about this and he explained he had read it in a magazine, so the word is getting out.

Moral of the story - shoot more film!

Did you fly the Dragonfly or did you fly IN the Dragonfly? There is a big difference you know.

I've done both in some of the planes I've been in but I am no pilot. Just given the controls for a minute or so. I can say that military jets move a lot faster than commercial jets, especially at takeoff! :D

Several! I've posted one of those in my gallery as well as one looking down - or up? depending on your POV into another plane. I was in zero g at the time. It was just like "Top Gun". I was playing the part of "Goose" in the movie.

I actually got to do both!

Yes I took control and flew the jet back to our airport, much like you say, Im no pilot.
First time Ive ever flown any aircraft!

Ive done alot of flight sim over the years, but was awesome to do it for real.

He gave me a good run for my money and the pilot pulled up vertically after takeoff and I started to blackout! lol You can see me taking huge breaths to try and get oxygen into my body lol. Really I should have been doing the hick maneuver.

Here is my gopro footage on takeoff

Just to share a small tidbit I picked up on my travels - I was at the PCCGB's Photographica Fair on Sunday, and got talking to a gentleman from Mr Cad, one of the larger shops for analogue in the UK. I got the impression that they are going to be the sole UK stockist of Ektachrome on release, and he told me that it will be available in 35 mm and 120 (no surprises), but that it will also come with a small chemical kit for processing. I would assume that it would be optional, seeing as some people are likely to opt to send out their film for processing.
I was told they're aiming for a release on either the 15th or 17th of September (my memory is failing me on that one, but the 17th is a Sunday so I couldn't see it), and he wouldn't be drawn on cost (annoyingly but understandably). I hope they stick to that date, as that should mean I can get some at the same time as my LabBox is arriving! I know it's only anecdotal, but I thought it might be interesting. He also told me there was a worldwide shortage of Portra 400 at the moment, and that they had been buying up everything they could get from suppliers - which explains why I've been struggling.

I personally hope there isn't only one stockist, the Kodak offerings are already not cheap over here (Ektar is my preferred stock), and I'd like a bit of competition. They were shifting hundreds of rolls of expired Colourplus 200 24exp for £3 a roll, which I thought was a bit much. Admittedly I still bought some to try, as I've never shot it.

Not trying to step on any toes, just thought you lot might like to know

That's a pretty loaded post (!) with a lot of unconfirmed information. 120 is a surprise, unless it was announced somewhere and I missed it.

I appreciate that, wasn't intended to be. I just wanted to put it out there and see if anyone else has heard similarly, as Kodak have been silent on it for a while. I thought it was interesting given its coming from a (likely) stockist. I'm hoping for 120 and chems included, but we'll see what happens.

120 would need a separate coating as it is normally on a thiner base. mixing super 8 and 35mm can both be cut from the SAME coating, assuming that the movie lubrication would not look objectionable to slidefilm users.

I'm also not sure about this processing kit rumor. I mean, processing E6 isn't that hard but it's also not super kitchen-sink friendly unless you have a Jobo. Plus AFAIK Kodak wants labs, and their labs to do well. They are very concerned not just about the film products, but the film infrastructure.

I'm personally concerned that they are significantly behind schedule re: Super 8.

Kodak certainly seems very quiet as regards any direct information regarding "New Ektachrome". And I'm inclined to agree regarding the processing kit rumour. Thinking about product-liability considerations, and unless they have invented some new innocuous and simple process, I can't see Kodak pushing to sell kits to all-and-sundry over the counter. At least, at the moment, anyone buying kits, or photo chemicals generally, is likely to know what will be involved in using them and be aware to take reasonable care and precautions.

If Kodak reintroduce Ektachrome only as part of a processing kit and only sell it through one outlet then they're not going to make much money out of it.
