No. I mainly used Velvia only for low contrast scenes which benefited from a boost in contrast and saturation. Otherwise, that high contrast was like a straightjacket with no wiggle room when printing. And saturation as an END RESULT in the print is actually more dependent on the correct masking protocol rather than going overboard in the first place, with the film itself, which could be counterproductive, depending. For the role of masking in Ciba printing is hue correction and not just contrast control. I'll bet 99% of the people who printed Ciba weren't even aware of the special kinds of filters necessary to selectively mask. But no need to get into arguments about what to feed a species of dinosaur already extinct. My favorite film for taking shots for Ciba was E100G. But I used many other films prior to this, going clear back to Ektachrome 64, Kodachrome 25, and even pre-E6 Agfachrome. But most of my shots were either on 4x5 or 8x10 various Fujichromes, prior to Kodak getting it right. Often to reduce printing density and time, I'd contact print a master 8x10 dupe using Astia with all the modifications built in.

Sorry I am almost 5 years late, May I ask what formulas you used for these prints? I have 100 sheets of 8x10 Ilfochrome that expired in 2008 that I plan to use however I am struggling to find a reliable tested formula with actual image examples. Thanks!
