Having seen the price and carriage (plus the small but additional cost of using a £ credit card in euros), and after all the aggro and hassle which has come from some posters on here when legitimate concerns have been put forward, I find that the whole thing has left a sour taste to the extent that I've lost interest in the whole project. I'll order my B&W from Ilford, it's served me well since the days of HP3....I'll await my "free" E6 films, but I'll put them on Ebay if anyone wants some extras. Other than that, I'll also await the new Ektachrome, though I have sufficient of the old Ektachrome (plus Fuji and Precisa) to last me a few years. All sad, but a lesson learned.

Sheesh, I step away from APUG for a few days, and come back to so much negativity.

On the lighter side, SWMBO made venison and noodles from a leftover roast that she made yesterday. After supper I told her I was stuffed and it was all her fault! To her credit, she is an amazing cook.

I do IT for a living, and have recently adopted the theory of pi when estimating how long something will take. What's the theory of pi? Come up with your best estimate of how long something will take, then multiply by pi, and you'll be close to how long it'll really take. And then if you get it done sooner, in true Scotty fashion, you'll look like a miracle worker.

Something like that ... Ilford and the rest are good enough ... I wish them success still. The one I`d like to actually see would be the C41 Solaris. Time will tell ...

I will definitely order a roll of this to support you guys.

I cannot wait for your color reversal film!! We cannot have too much color reversal film in the world.

Although I do wonder what's going to happen to the color reversal market once we have two new competitors to Fuji - Kodak and Ferrania, at about the same time. Think about it - for years now Fuji has been the only man in the ballpark for color slide, completely unchallenged. Now all of a sudden they're going to have competition. I would assume this would tend to drive prices down at least a little... and then what happens? Is the slide film market really big enough to support three competitors like this? It just makes me worried cause I don't want any of these companies to suffer, and I especially don't want to see any of my film options drop out

Man, people sure get grumpy over things. The price was exactly what I was expecting and not out of line for other single rolls of film from smaller manufacturers, and even better with the kickstarter discount. Shipping was a little high, but everyone seems to forget that we're buying into some early pre-production products here, and I suspect everything will come down in price eventually once they get things going in volume quantities. I still believe in Ferrania's mission to support the future of film, and I can accept hiccups along the way when they're working with a shoestring budget.

In the midst of a lot of the rather fatiguing bits of negativity, I'd like to stop to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to Dave and all of the FF crew for all of their hard work in trying to pull all of this together. Working in a service business, I do realize how tough it can be to line all of one's ducks up to create a goal, but it appears that you guys are on the verge of doing just that. I have my initial 5 roll order in and look forward to giving it a try!

Ah yes, but to quote Scotty "the more complex you make the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain"!

Well, I preordered my 5 rolls. I thought the whole thing was smooth and flawless once they got the served straightened out. The shipping cost was a little disappointing, but, then again, I always moan about cost of shipping. The full price of the film is about what I figured it would be for a "boutique" product. So, if sales of P30 help FF to pull in some funds to pay salaries and put into the operation, then good for them. If the film delivers, I will be back for more.

Impossible film is expensive. P30 isn't cheap, but not unreasonable. If you were expecting discount film out of this deal, then you were being unrealistic.

Good luck guys. Go Ferrania!

I tried as soon as I got the email this morning, and I thought it was a problem with my computer. About 8 of those 20k were me trying different browsers and OSes, lol (I figured there would be a server issue, but I think there was also a javascript problem, so I tried different things).

It was nice to see Dave get on here to confirm there was a server problem as early as he did. The shop didn't function for me until I got home from work, but his acknowledgment of a problem had put me at ease.

Didn't he (in one of the movies) also say to double the time estimate? LOL.

Strange, I can see it just fine and I didn't use Ctrl+F5 at all. Maybe clear your cache and cookies? The website makes a big deal about how they use cookies.

Finally got it to work, I had to use a VPN to the UK. That broke the barrier what ever it was. The page you enter a credit card on didnt work for several logins but finally got that form entry to work.

A simple but very wise principle. Good luck getting that across to some of the folk on this forum. Some of us have tried giving similar advice, and have only been responded to with hostility and false accusations.

I too like this, not least because IIRC pi is an "imaginary" number.

Hardly off the ground and they've succeeded admirably in alienating some of their most loyal and enthusiastic supporters.Well done, Film Ferrania. I'm also leaving. I sincerely wish you all the best. If you should learn from past mistakes, and become the success story we've all dreamed of for the past couple of years, I'll be overjoyed. If not, it will be a tragedy and a most unfair and undeserved fate to befall the guys in Italy who have been working so tirelessly at something they truly love. I can only hope that they get the kind of management with the leadership qualities they so desperately need.

I can see from where some of the criticism is coming. At some point, FILM Ferrania isn't going to be able to plead for understanding from the goodwill of their supporters whenever a deadline is missed, a promise is broken, etc. At some point, they'll have to put on their big boy pants and go play on the same playground as Fuji, Kodak, etc.

The biggest issue is that they have failed pretty much ALL of the deadlines they have set out for themselves. Seriously... go look through old press releases related to FILM Ferrania. Even the press releases/stories about the introduction of P30 a few months back mention the film being available for sale in mid-February. Consequently, many people are likely just frustrated/concerned. It's somewhat like watching a good friend keep repeating the same mistakes, and trying to give them a bit of advice. Of course, that friend doesn't have to listen. LOL.

I commend them for fixing the web store issues relatively quickly. Good stuff.

I hope the interest they received for a product like P30 results in many orders, and possibly convince them to offer other similar B&W films in the future. Selling small runs of odd formats (110, 126, 127, 116, etc.) at a premium price would be cool to see as well, and if they can do this without too much additional expense it could produce some good profit margins. They could even possibly follow the pre-order process to ensure there is enough demand for a particular format before putting it into production. I'd imagine this is one benefit of being a smaller and more flexible operation.

There are so many possibilities for the future if they are successful!
