Well, one of our readers has now published a video sorry 'reel' (with a starring role for @pentaxuser đŸ˜€) which aims to join some of the dots..

Interestingly, it got a 'like' from the darkroom, organising the US launch 'event'.

He's not smart though, if he had read that FB comment, he could make a video telling what it is. Imagine the number of views and subscribers he would have gotten when he was the first one to tell.

And it's also good for Harman to show them this stupid "time stretching" is silly.

Very interesting… but he ruined the surprise. There should have been a spoiler alert!

Seeing that you like ColorPlus 200 very much, Lomography Tiger 200 is your poison.

Anyway, I'm still quite puzzled by the obvious lack of @ilfordphoto activity on this. They don't follow @harmanphoto.

I mean, there was nothing stopping them from announcing the new product (range) on a channel with immensely bigger reach. As if they want this new film not to be associated with anything that Ilford stands for.

In Harman/ Ilford's reply to me it said the reasons for it NOT being done under the Ilford name would become obvious once the announcement was made on 1 Dec

So there would appear to be good reasons why they don't the announcement associated with the Ilford name and we'll know those good reasons very soon whatever they may be

Don't you mean, "the reasons for it NOT being done under the Ilford name" ?

Is this man an influencer? đŸ™‚ When he mentioned the history of Harman to Ilford and back to Harman, I initially thought he said at about 32 seconds into the video " Ilford continued to grow throughout the Nazi hundreds" I listened a second time and it still sounded the same but I assume it was the word "nineteen" in a southern drawl.

I thought this was a leg-pull, Matt, but have followed it up. I'm not clear: are these things already available, or are they part of what is to be launched shortly? And what about this:

Those "colour" cameras in the screen shot I shared are available, I believe. I have at least seen adds for them.
And they of course have nothing to do with Harman - they come from/through Ilford Imaging. And they are manufactured for them by someone else.

Harman do market some of them - or at least similar cameras - pre-loaded with Ilford B&W film. I expect that it is that film that permits Harman to sell them under the Ilford name.

They are. So is this. No idea who makes it.

Apparently not… he didn’t get a postcard!

Thanks Arcadia I hadn't listened that far into the video so had no idea I was famous enough to be mentioned. First time everđŸ˜„

At the five minute mark he referred to this forum as Photo-Rio. đŸ˜„

Still guessing. I think this may be the best internet, free advertising campaign, for any photo company. Good Job Harman (Ilford)

That's a product of the "other" Ilford, available for at least a couple of years. Last time I checked, it was available at closeout prices through Retrospekt's eBay store (I bought one).

After watching the reel, I wonder whether this is a product debut.

The reel notes the trademark registrations for Harman. The Harman notices don’t talk about new products. I wonder whether Harman is about to rebrand its Ilford products under the Harman name. And announce that it has stabilized the film business with profits enough to carry the rebranded company forward. That would explain the phoenix motif — Harman rising from Ilford’s ashes.

perhaps Harman is so anoyed with the other folks with rights to the Ilford name marketing various Ilfocolour films, including one that is apparently re-spooled Movie Stock, that they are planning to downplay the Ilford name? Harman HP5Plus anyone?

There is no reason Harman would need to distance themselves from the fairly-popular Ilford social media streams if they wanted to rebrand the existing lineup under the name "Harman". They could just rename their existing social media streams and retain the followers. So Harman HP5+ isn't happening just yet.

But Ilford is the one old-school photographic company that isn't in ashes, and doesn't need to be reanimated. If I had a product range like theirs I wouldn't change anything; not even the colour of the box. Well, maybe I'd put in place a substantial discount for people in the north of England, but nothing else. They and we have lived with the two-Harmans (oops) two-Ilfords situation perfectly well for some years.

You may call me a grouch if you like; I think the guy in the Youtube vid's a chump. He's speaking with no more information than us, chatting here; only he has a deal more cheek, to tell us as if it's news what we have been saying, and a day or two later. If one of us posts a new finding - a new post on one of the relevant accounts, or a new silly idea about what it might be, that asks about thirty seconds of reading time from the rest of us. That guy just wasted eight-and-a-half minutes of my time to tell me 'I know no more than you do, but here's a summary of some gossip I have read, some of which is by you'. The cat was the only interesting thing in the video.

It occurs to me that Joaquin Phoenix is a vegan. The launch is obviously going to be a colour film, based on a vegetarian agar emulsion, made in cahoots (not collaboration - cahoots) with Joaquin. Joaquin himself is pulping seaweed (or something) as I speak.

Technically, not accurate.
Ilford Imaging is the ash like remnant of the old school photographic company - the remnant that survived receivership. That is the one with the digital papers and re-spooled movie stock.
Harman is the new as of 2005 photographic company, that took a big risk and purchased critical assets out of the receivership, including the limited right to use the trade name "Ilford" for a restricted list of products.
Harman has done quite well with their gamble, and what they currently have has some similarities to the old, much before 2005 version of Ilford that those of us who use black and white film and darkroom products really appreciate. But the re-animation they did happened 18 years ago.

I'm really looking forward to this. Harman Technology is flying these YouTube Cats to a new product launch. Silvergrain Classics is writing a story. Hell yeah!

Well, maybe I'd put in place a substantial discount for people in the north of England colonies or former colonies of The Great British Empire, but nothing else.

FFTY.

Vaughan (in Sydney, Australiia)

I believe that CR Kennedy, an Australian photographic importer, played a financial part in the saving of Ilford.
