Well if you try this film and let the development to a comercial lab it is a case of sin.
Therfore you should better try a cheap film like APX 100 and take it to a lab.

It is a traditional black-and-white process film, so a lab that can process T-Max films or HP5 should be able to handle it. It can not be developed together with colour films.

I posted a Want to Buy ad for some of this film, but will mention here: if anyone has decided they don't like it, I would love to get my hands on some to try. I was out of the country with minimal access to internet when they released this first batch.

I also made some shots with different red objects, but I did not notice anything
insensitivity to this color ... (I will post tonight more shots).
Certainly a particular film, but I'm sure the negs are easily printable.

The example of a red house on a sign #102 looks to be pretty convincing proof that P30 does have a very low sensitivity to red. Later another poster refers to it as orthochromatic but I have also seen the word panchromatic being used to describe it. Your post suggests that it isn't insensitive to red and you have evidence of this in the form of shots with red objects. It would help if we can see those. Thanks

So, what is the truth here? Presumably there are specs that show its sensitivity to the colour spectrum and it is this that will reveal the truth. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

pentaxuser, I did not photographed on Ferrania P30, but I did a comparative test on positive Kodak 5302 - blue light sensitive and Dup Positive Orwo DP3 - pancromatic sensitive.
It's a gray scale and a color scale (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ColorChecker ).

In a few hours (09:00 pm clock Italy) attached 3 photos taken deliberately to a red brick wall (old building) and a red brick wall (new construction) the third image is a nautical sign split into two parts; white and a red (Red Ferrari).
I did this test (empirical ?!?!) because I also read of the low sensitivity to red color. I was pleased with the fact that in the shots this situation did not happen. The Italian detractors of this film, have accused the story of Orthochromatism (and other unpleasant accusations) and speed (12iso !!). I did not find anything of this.

Probably because I click with Soviet material ??? Which as we know well, is sensitive to ... red !

Ferrania recommends that you print out the data sheet (containing sample times and temps with different developers) and bring it with you when taking the film to a lab for processing.

Thanks, schyter. It looks to have close to normal sensitivity to red to me from these shots which leaves #102 from Chris Livsey as a puzzle. If this P30 is indeed a replica of 1950s Italian movie film then I'd have thought that such films were in fact panchromatic but short of a graph of its colour sensitivity to colours this is just my opinion.

I participated in Milan at the presentation of the P30. Nicola Baldini (CEO Ferrania) confirmed the original recipe of the 50's.
Only three marginal changes caused by the impossibility of replicating, 60 years later, some original elements: support, jelly, and layer anti-Alo.
