Yeah. If P30 / P33 turn out to be rebadged Orwo, I will basically give up on Ferrania. I doubt that it would be though. What would be the point? You don't need to buy a troubled company on the other side of the continent to rebadge an existing product.

Ferrania were working to build film confectioning/finishing capacity - something that Harman, for one, makes a meaningful part of their income from.

And something that Orwo had to outsource all the way to China. In that regard the common ownership could be very beneficial for both the company and the consumers.

May I ask if there is any evidence whatsoever that forthcoming "Ferrania" film will be sourced from somewhere other than the Ferrania LRF ? Or is it just a rumour started here at Photrio?

From what I can see, and I accept that I am a glass half full kind of guy, the factory was successfully producing P30, P33 and Orto not so long ago. So unlike resuming production after a decade or more inactivity, it is a relatively turnkey operation to get more of those products out. They already enjoy a good reputation for QC and for the products themselves, and while niche they have regular users and purchasers.

What I would be curious about is if any new products are announced quickly that aren't B&W film. Like, if FerraniaColor suddenly appears I would assume that is from another of Seal's companies.

I certainly hope that P30 and P33 can be continuously produced. I like P30 in certain circumstances, and while it's not an everyday film I do buy a few rolls every year. And I've run out. I'd like to try P33, especially in 120 if it appears.

I took Matt's comment to just him mentioning a theoretical possibility --- playing devil's advocate. I did not get the impression that he thought this is what's happening. But I might've misunderstood.

Me too. I haven't tried them and I would be sad to discover that I missed my chance.

Just developed a roll of Ferrania Orto 50 - I found a couple of rolls for sale locally, possibly stock leftovers.

The film is hanging to dry, looking forward to the images tomorrow.

I've been reading good things about its 'proper' orthochromatic spectral frequency, something I've been looking for. Foma Orto 400 is nice in terms of spectral response, but I am not a fan of the excessive halation, whereas I've found Ilford Ortho 80 to be too similar to FP4+ for my liking.

I made a video about Orto 50 a while back... I quite liked it. Really nice contrast, and sharpness. I would like to see this stuff again, but in 120.

You're aware that Orto 50 has been available in 120 format, at least periodically, yes? I still have some in my stash. Currently, Blue Moon Camera in PDX has it in stock. I like it, but it needs careful development to moderate its contrast, IMO.

I did hear it's a tricky one. Based on what I had read on P30, which is much more popular, I tried exposing the Orto at 25 EI and developed it in HC110 1:63 for 10 minutes. Based on what I can see from the wet negatives I don't think I'm too far off - though actually I could have given it even more exposure.

@retina_restoration yes, I'm aware. I snagged a few from the first wave of 35mm. Never was able to get my hands on it in 120, though. I'll wait until more comes available from a retailer in Canada.

At EI 50, in a two-bath, it was just outstanding.
