I’ll throw another log on the fire if and when you get the bug. I have a Fujinon 300mm tele that is a very nice lens. Not big and heavy and very sharp

I found myself trying out a variety of 90mm lenses, both old and new. As a result, the one I took out most often was the Nikkor SW 90mm f8 lens. These lenses are all very consistent in quality and not too expensive. The only problem was that the f-stop was a little slow, so I needed a cloth to keep it completely dark.

The f8 90mm lenses are a little darker, but the f5.6 90mm lenses are WAY too big and heavy for many people -- like me -- to use. Same reason I use a 300mm f8.5 instead of a f5.6.
