Travis, Richard and I were discussing Sat/Sun as a time to show prints, do some darkrooming, show gear etc. I'd be happy to take people to some other sites for photography on Saturday if they wish, e.g. vineyards, cliffs, Barboursville ruins, whatever. I'd also like to arrange some sort of...
Let us get back to you with specifics over the coming weeks, but personally: I plan to be photographing at Swannanoa from dawn through night on the days that we have access there. Others are welcome to join, and we can consolidate transport from Charlottesville. We'll also ave other shooting...
Beautiful series! The 'diptych' format very well befits the subject(s), with the rough edges themselves evoking chiseled slabs of stone. Thank you for showing this work.
It's that simple. Yes, do a search. I do this quite often. You can put a piece of paper over a test sheet of film and withdraw it to nail down the exposure. I use tmax as the b&w film and it works well; you'll want to use a pan film or your tones will go awry.
QG let me flip this statement: what is the worth of a method (digital file+ computer projector) that everyone is using? How much impact is lost when a person shows his/her colour work exactly same way that everyone else does?

Obviously, in the market sense, discontinuation of products...
Yes, prints, bring prints! I have been discussing with Richard the possibility of us having a booth on the downtown mall on Friday or so. That'd be great if folks would like to show (and maybe sell!) some prints. Apart from that, we will definitely have some casual evening time for looking at...
So... somebody remind me, why should I care what Kodak thinks of E6? Or the future of film in general? Film has plenty of future left in it, but it's not at Kodak, that's for sure.
I have ventured into facebook to see what's there and... I am disappointed that there isn't a very simple option to click that determines whether I am showing a professional or a nonprofessional face.
I certainly don't want to get into the whole internet long-distance romantic hookup thing...
400 print film is far grainier than 400 slide. Far.
Also, I seriously question whether ilfos get as much info out of a slide and can control grain as well as drum + lightjet. Now, before I get a bunch of flames: I realize that because lightjet has "jet" at the end of it that people associate...
2F, you can put a 6x8 back on the rb, but not on the rz without extensive surgery. I have looked into it a few times and concluded that it's probably not worth the bother!
But one clear benefit of the rz, in my opinion, is the 100/2.8, which is by far the fastest lens in the rb/rz lines. You...
Oh dear, you realize that MF slides are an expensive addiction with no cure, right? ;)
(1) yes you can buy slide mounts. Alas, MF slide projectors are now quite scarce. So my slides just go into plastic sheets and filed.
(2) yes, try Stubblefield in C'ville. If you want the ultimate quality...
A 16x20 from 400x shot in 35mm format will have some grain/texture for sure, but nothing that would compromise the image if you work carefully to get all the information out of the slide. I.e. if not making ilfochromes, then I would definitely advise drum scanning, and print to the native 3:2...
Tim, I'm quite sure that the 6x8 back will go on all the RB models- the mount looks exactly the same. But I can loan the back to my buddy Richard who has a pro S and get a definitive answer for you.
As for why mamiya brought out the motorized 6x7 and 6x8 backs... I don't know. I and many...
