I know you are asking about colour print film, but I recently saw some interesting examples of provia 400x pushed to 1600 and beyond...

I have shot NPZ at 800 and found it rather wan- I would rate it a half stop...
The vivid colour works very well in this composition. While some may question the amount of negative space, I find it very effective. The shallow DOF obviously pulls the eye directly to the message.
Haha, yes, I think I see what you mean, Svend. The swing and tilt has a miniaturizing effect, and IR gives a plastic complexion. Thanks for that comment, it gives me ideas.
Thanks for the comments. Leon, I see what you mean about the wet plate aesthetic, that was my thought when I did this test shot. (apologies for the motion blur in the face, she was a reluctant subject when I told her that her makeup would look blotchy in UV!)
I suppose the spectral...
Indeed, the F5 sells for more, and probably always will. It is a sturdier camera with better sealing and is virtually indestructible. The F100 gained fame as the "backup" camera that just happened to be damn good in its own right.
Yep, I think you have to be an infant to look good in UV! Skin defects show up as big blotches in UV, hence the diagnostic use in dermatology. Deeper UV might be interesting, though; I think one could get caucasian skin to go completely black if the filter cutoff is low enough.
I sold my F5 and kept my F100. I sometimes miss the F5 but I like the option to "go small" with the F100, when I don't need the vertical grip. So it was purely an issue of convenience. I didn't consider either camera to be a particularly good long term investment- I use 'em and abuse 'em and...
This is another test of the "apo" character and the focus shift of my Apo-Nikkor 360, this time in IR.
Again, this is shot wide open (f/9) with liberal swings and tilts to limit the DOF as much as possible. Unfortunately there was some motion blur from the long exposure, but anyway... note...
This was part a recent test to see just how "apo" my Apo-Nikkor 360 process lens is. The DOF is deliberately very shallow- the lens was shot wide open at f/9 and liberal swing and tilt were applied. There was no focus correction.
This is an ultraviolet capture with a B+W 403 filter, taken...
Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them!
Mike, I just ordered a Cr and also a Ag intensifier kit from the formulary, I'll try both out and see which works best for me. Thanks for the tip, I didn't realise that these were still available. I have gotten some benefit from selenium, but...
A late afternoon infrared taken from the crater near Mono Lake near Lee Vining, California. There were ominous lenticular clouds before snow arrived at the higher elevations.
This is a neg scan; I fear that I need to intensify the negative before I can get an acceptable print. If anyone can...
Says who? The plaubel makina sports a sharp Nikon 80mm f/2.8... ;)
But indeed, unless you shoot LF, there aren't many ways to stay true to your brand. There are some really great Nikkor LF lenses though, keep that in mind!
There are many great medium format cameras out there, but they...
