TMX in XTOL & XTOL 1+ with N+1 development

There is no need to wait or guestimate 20 rolls, just use if following the Kodak instruction and it is good to use for every roll of film on the way up to 20.

Compansating speed loss by dev time?

Use XTOL and the speed will be greater than box speed. That way you can quit worrying about loss of film speed.

Public transportation is great. Having a car can be a problem especially in the French Quarter, so use the trolleys and busses. We took trolleys to the Garden District and walked around for hours. There are many other interesting areas that never got to see. Welcome to APUG Photrio!!

    Should I Join a 'Camera Club? '

When I was a teenager I went to my father's camera club and I learned a lot from listening to critiques of various photographs. I enjoyed the slide show or print competitions. But after a while I saw that there was a building of competition to win repeatedly by some and it got so bad that I...

I bought my Pacemaker Speed Graphic and Graflex Model D from a retired Graflex and Graphic repairman. They were the best of each from his collection. He passed away over a decade ago. He sent me Word files for focal plane repairs. I have used Steve's Camera in Culver City California for a...

    Keeping it flat

Whenever negative flatness is a problem, which is rare, I use my 4"x5" glass negative carrier. I also use that carrier with the WideLux negatives always, since I do not have a custom negative holder for it.

I never figured out how many rolls were developed using the remaining 4 liters, but it is roughly 57 70ml replenishments. When the last of the one liter bottles was getting low, I just mix another 5 liter batch. Thus I have used the replenished XTOL for well over 100 rolls of film.

The Speed Graphic allows one to choose between a focal plane shutter or a lens [leaf] shutter. That means one can find old shutterless lenses, sometimes very inexpensive, and use them with the focal plane shutter.

Best 4x5 camera for starting out

I strongly suggest that you start with a 4"x5" Pacemaker Speed Graphic with a top mounted viewfinder which allows you to use it hand held, it is a press camera, and to mount it on a tripod with limited movements. I have found the limited movements more than enough. It and any lenses can be...
