What's your latest new old camera ? (Part 2)

I have begun considering a 35mm folder now.

I've got a couple. A Balda Jubilette (scale focus) and a Welta Weltini. The Jubilette is a little smaller (fits in a full size shirt pocket, though too heavy to carry there), but the Weltini has a coupled single-window RF and my example has f/2 Xenon lens. Smaller and lighter than a Retina, though it's manual cocking and a "left handed" camera. Pretty nice to have around -- carry a couple spare rolls of film, and you can shoot a whole vacation with one and carry it in your shaving kit (providing you shave), or a coat pocket if it's cold out.

Welta Weltini

I like the look of the Weltas. I will add it to my mental list, It will take a bit of time for me to figure out which way I want to go. I like to consider my options before I dive in. But I really like the compactness of the folders. A 120 folder fits in my pockets without an issue.

If interested, I have a second Weltini I'd let go cheaply. It's got f/3.5 (I think, it's at home and I'm not) triplet and the RF arm is disconnected from the mirror movement shaft; looks like it'd be an easy fix but require more disassembly than I'm willing to do with the challenges to my free time.

But there's the rub -- I've also got a Daiichi Zenobia 6x4.5 folder; it's barely bigger than the Weltini and gives three times the negative area (though it's scale focus, there was a Super Zenobia as well with coupled RF). Sixteen on a roll, or up to 40? With modern film, you don't give up much resolution on the smaller film, if your lens is up to the task.

The Bessa 6x9 feels like it eats film.

I recently got a Bessa I and get what you are saying. So I've decided to consider it an alternative to 4x5 and shoot it that way. It makes it feel so much cheaper to use.

I'll have to pass for now but thanks for the offer. I need to get rid of a few things and have my camera money tied up in a bunch of Polaroids right now. Plus I just got an Jsolette I need to fix. I try not to take on too many projects at once. I am horrible at getting around to fixing things.

Sensible. If it's not a serious budget thing, I'd recommend hunting around for the f/2 Xenon version, anyway.

Bought two Barnack Leicas, a IIIF and a 1c. The IIIF had to go immediately to service for a new shutter, but what the heck. Now I'd like a 6x9 camera but can't decide between a Fuji or a Super Ikonta. I did have an excellent Ikonta at one time but foolishly sold it. I see that prices now have gone crazy.

Agfa Isolette III with Apotar lens is new to me in the sense that I was able to bring it back to life after having it sitting around in non-functional state with lens focusing helicoid and rangefinder assembly frozen solid, and self-timer not working properly. I wonder how long it had been since someone else last used it to take photos?

Just got a Canon P to see if it would be something for me. Unfortunately, I didn't realise the VF was 1.0x magnification so I still can't see 35 mm framelines with glasses on. Even without glasses your eyeball has to basically be touching the VF to see them. This was the main reason I wanted to look at this camera bc I'm using an external 35mm VF with my FED 5 and wouldn't being able to do without one.

The Canon is nicely made and in decent shape, no dings, no crinkles in the curtain etc. but other than the 1/1000 sec exposure time it doesn't really do anything for me that the FED doesn't do. Actually it does less bc it only has a cold shoe. Maybe this is just my example but the camera makes a somewhat dry, doubtful "krr-krk" sound when operating the film advance, acutally less confidence-inspiring than the FED which makes a happy optimistic "tsch-tschk".

I'm debating whether I'll hang to this camera until I get my eyes fixed next year or just clean up the VF, which has a speck of fungus, and sell it on.

No so much as a 'new one's but a rediscovery of some I've had.

Most notably, a Nikon 65, and several "Name" point and shoots that were overlooked and stored away from my lend out 35mm p&s collection.

Pentax, Olympus and Nikon AF cameras, etc, which means I should start a list

I generally lend these to fellow artist that worked with disabled teens and adults in several artist media, photo outings included.

It's been a few years now since I've done this and I might end up selling what I have for 'new' old camera kit, like a 500 El C/M body or another F1 body.

Super Ikonta will be the way to go, IMO, and you should be happy about the choice and performance.

A Kowa SET and Kowa SWC are still missing in the collection.

Recently I got an Nikon F301 because it came free along with the attached lens I was after, then a Nikon FM2n because I don't like purely electronic cameras, and these were to go with my Nikon F2 anyway. But I thought there is something missing in the middle, and there was, a Nikon F3, so that is my latest old camera. I'd used one extensively as a Press photographer in the 1980's, alongside my F2, and I'm not sure why it took me so long to get another. It just feels right, it sounds right, and it really is the most perfect Nikon ever made. I guess I'm just filling out my Nikon collection again after years of using Leica's, but the two brands work so well together.

I think it's a Nikon F65, I found in my kit, complete with the kit lens, original box and contents.

I believe this was picked up last year for me, by my Rozeann and because the boxed unit was in a grocer's bag, it simply was mislaid among kit awaiting additional shelves, in my small darkroom.

We were having major work being done after water damage to upstairs ceilings and walls and a lot of stuff was simply covered walled up behind plastic.

I should also add a small Olympus point and shoot digital which came with it but I'll have to look later to detail model.

My Rozeann gave me a table top 'studio' with LED lights, and I should rephotograph my kit, including point and shoots and others.

Me too, but my lens is not the SSC version. This thing is a beast; big, heavy, and loud compared to my current and former cameras (film and digital).

I had it CLA'd with a couple minor repairs and adjustments. My first roll of film through it is packed up and ready to send out to The Darkroom.
