I know that my views are swimming against the tide on this forum but to me the more cameras you have, the more you have to worry about, protect, insure and keep in serviceable condition, the more "hostages to fate".
And the harder to decide which to use.

As of yesterday, this eloquent Kodak Retina Reflex III now lives with me. It came with three lenses (a 28, a 50 and a 135) and two Kodak close-up add-on filters. I've tested it and it works as it should, and all three lenses perform as expected (vintage "sharpness" and contrast).

and a selection from the first roll I shot yesterday (on Rollei RPX400 processed in Rodinal):

This will feed my obsession for rangefinders without the price of a Contax. ...

Heh. They even copied the dubiously-useful infinity lock.

I have in the past had many and diverse cameras make and model, but around thirty years ago decided to rationalize my gear and that I liked the Canon F1( Fin and New F1 ) more than any other camera ( I now have two of each ) and I sold all the rest and have since seen no reason to buy any other camera film or digital because they do everything I need. and I've been using them for so long I can operate them instinctively.
It's hard to argue with that. Back when I shot Canon only, my most used camera was an old F-1, and I too used it so much that everything about its operation became instinctive. Interesting thing about that camera is, even though it's been 30 years since I used one on a regular basis, when I pick up one of mine these days, it all comes back to me as if I'd never left.

I should take a break from buying old film cameras, but the price on this late Soviet-era Kiev 60 was tempting, and I liked how it bore the quality emblem.

I've owned newer 60s before and don't recall them looking as nice as this one! Chrome is decently smooth and satiny versus dull and grainy, and overall fit and finish look considerably better. Who knows, maybe my other cameras were factory seconds built from whatever parts remained.

Was pleasantly surprised to find the hard case well-made and non-smelly. Extension tubes + caps were an unexpected bonus.

Orange cylinder is the original type of battery used. Looks to be at least partially assembled by hand from a trio of mercury(?) cells very similar to PX625.

I went out and got a four-pack last weekend:

Nikon FE
Minolta XE-7
Exakta VX
Pentacon F

I’m especially excited about the two East German cameras but I’m not going to hate using the other two either.

Such a deal that battery is: 3.75 volts, 0.25 amps, cost is 1 ruble. Wonder when it was made.

So this camera below is not new to me - I've had it for a few years, but I just started using it today. I have a type 375 battery in it, which is 1.5v instead of the proper 1.35v, but I've adjusted the ISO accordingly and the meter now matches my Sekonic L-308. However, it is easily fooled by the sky, so in such scenarios I switch to manual mode.

I just got one of these too. From what I’ve read, if you take the top piece off there is a pot you can adjust to retune the meter to 1.5v. I haven’t done it yet, but Will eventually. For now, the dying alkaline battery in it is already close to 1.35v.

Just picked up a new to me Nikon F4 to add to my collection. In Nikon I have an FE2, F3HP, and now this F4. It was an E-Pay find. Body was better than I was expecting. In the ad photos, one made it look like there was a spot the paint had worn off. Ended up being a reflection. The only fault I find is a very little bit of fungus on the eye piece. One of these days when I'm motivated I will clean that up. For now, I will just roast in with UV to stop the growth.

It came with a 35-70 F3.5 - 4.5 AF lens. Went out and took some quick shots with Provia 100F to check out the metering. Cycled through spot, center, matrix. Can't find any issue with metering, all behaves as I would expect. The whole camera functions nicely and no LCD bleed.

Here are some of the test shots, nothing special.

Toyo, I am curious about the Zorki cameras - a friend has one to sell. What are they like to use? How good is the f3.5 Industrar lens? Thanks!
They are somewhat like a Leica to use and very easy to manage in the hand. The viewfinder has a built-in diopter which I like.
Film wind-on is an acquired taste as the knob is a little snug. The Zorki 4K has a lever which is easier, but it doesn't look as cool
The 3.5 Industar is a very good lens, but my favourite is the Jupiter 8, which can still be found cheaply if you shop around.
The film take-up spool is not fixed and comes out of course - so make sure it is present. Of course you can buy replacements on ebay if not.
I have a Zorki 4 which I have been using a lot, but have been after a 3M at a decent price for a long time before this one popped up.
I really like the lines of the 3M
Oh - if you do get one, always wind on and cock the shutter before changing film speeds

The battery has what appears to be a hand-written date code of "1288".

I've never read any of Dostoevsky's works, but I like the book + camera photo idea. Here's my contribution:

I initially thought I'd like to depict the Pen S in a fancy lacquered wooden box surrounded by tasty foods, like part of kaiseki dinner. But besides lacking the appropriate dishes, I decided that the Pen is probably more of an Ekiben camera; a Kaiseki camera might be more of a costly luxury item like a Contax, or one of the titanium-cased Nikon or Minolta compacts.

It was a Nizo camera, but the design came from their new owner Braun.
