6x7 is not 5/8 the film area of 4x5. Not even close.

Based on those dimensions you quoted 6x7 gives around 30% of the area captured by 4x5.

Woops, you're right; it's about 5/8 the linear dimension. If we deduct the film holder masking for 4x5, we get about 98x120 mm, so 56x70 is exactly 1/3 the area. Your mileage may vary depending on exact gate dimensions (which vary between 6x7 cameras and roll holders) or exact film holder masking (which varies less, but still some, between brands of film holder).

Always low on fixer, bottle of Rodinal last long, PQ Universal as well...so I got 5l of Adox rapid fixer.

First you buy one bottle. Next time you buy two bottles. Next time you buy 4 bottles. Suddenly you realize you can buy a 5l canister much cheaper. Or actually two. While carrying the fotoimpex package with 10 litres of fixer you realize next time you buy just the powder :D (my story..)

I want a SWC. That's coming after I sell all my mint RZ 67 II stuff. I never use it, and 6x7 is a weird size. I like 6x6 and 6x9.

I have a SWC and the 30mm Fisheye.

An 1864 Voigtlander.

I went nuts last night and ordered a mint 903SWC from MAP Camera. I've always been fascinated by the SWC cameras. The Biogon design is amazing.

Good for you. Next on you list is the 30mm Fisheye.

Andrew,
Is this one of those purchases that is hard to explain to one's spouse ?

She asked me if I was making jello in my darkroom, the first time I brought some home. I said, nope. Black licorice! :D Now it's, gee gelatin is pretty expensive, ne (the ne is like a japanese eh :D)

I don't know if this counts as a purchase, technically, but I paid shipping for a bunch of aluminum film canisters and a bulk loader from a generous member here who was giving them away.

COVID-19 and the uncertainty of income associated with it has seriously curtailed my purchasing for the past 5 months. I have purchased very little other than food and some building supplies.

I recently purchased and drum glazing/dryer as well as a dry press, both big enough for 20x24. I guess I'm looking towards the future... I'd feel less guilty if my biggest outgoing was for film, then developer, and so on.

Oh, my. Are we going to see results of its use?
Yes, as soon as I get the board with the flange mounted to it back from the shop, I will shoot with it. I also got a Cooke Series II 10.5" f4.5 in the same auction lot (I effectively got the Cooke for free).I'll shoot it too when the board with the flange arrives. Hopefully this week.

Sold my Leica CM Zoom for 600€, as I have Minilux with 40mm f2.4 Summarit that I use and love more. For that I have purchased:

Leica CL for 190€ (non working light meter, but I don't care)
Fomabrom FB 30x40cm 2x50 papers
Fomaspeed RC 30x40cm 50 papers
Moersch Easy Lith developer 1 liter
Kodak TriX 10 36 exp

I think I made a good choice, even more when original price for CM zoom was 200€.

This weekend, I ordered a full set of Flexicolor chemistry -- Developer Replenisher, LORR Developer Starter, Bleach Replenisher (no starter actually needed), and Fixer/Replenisher. Should keep me going several times as long as a $40 C-41 kit, and only cost $95 plus shipping.

I also bought a New In Box (old stock, I presume) Holga S, $30 plus shipping.

A nice Silvestri 8x10 film holder case, which holds 6 holders. Nice simple, clean, zippered, padded case, just what I was looking for.

Roger

A refurbished OM 1 body - the one I had died last year while on an iceberg watching trip in Newfoundland when the mirror suddenly jammed in the up position - anyway I look forward to receiving the new one.
Also, 2 rolls of HIE, expired 2006 but frozen. All from Ebay.
