This is from a glass plate negative taken by Adolph Rapp in Glasgow, Kentucky abt. 1880.
I have taken on the project of making prints from a collection found in the basement recently.
An honor and pleasure to participate in the history of photography.
Wm.

She must have been important or really wealthy to have that image taken of just her, very cool!

Couple of pictures from last night's darkroom session.

Old Kodak Tmax 100 shot at 25, developed normally in Arista Premium Developer. Unknown FB paper in PolymaxT. Luckily I have a lot of the paper because I like how it comes out (tone and the finish).

Confident kid:

Thought I had taken this on color film lol:

I went down the inside of that sucker many times with the kids. Water slide at Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg MA

Nikon 50mm f/1.8 all wide open. I figured out how to get the FB prints flat without any special equipment like a print press or dryer.

Some 8x10's hanging to dry...Death Valley and Yosemite National Parks (film exposed Feb thru May, 2014). Tri-X and FP4+. Rollo Pyro in 3005 drums for these last ones. Looking good. About 30 or so done so far, the first 15 were developed in HC-110.

Not many 8x10's left -- then I will start with the 11x14's (mostly FP4+...open tray). Not as many of those!

Just did contact sheets for probably 30 rolls of 6x6. They were all trips I have taken in the last few years. India, Mexico, Alaska.

Im kinda liking the idea of shooting a whole roll of a single subject and only printing contact sheets, gives the larger vision.

Yesterday I printed some bw-pictures together with a friend in the darkroom.

Film: Delta 100 6x7 which I developed in X-TOL 1:1 about two weeks ago.
Paper: 24 x 30,5cm (9,5 x 12 inch) Ilford RC Multigrade glossy, processed in Calbe N113.

Sold my 70mm gear and went to my fridge and realized I had one undeveloped roll hiding away! Ran to develop it, nothing really worth the panic but glad I did it anyway. So we will add...

1 roll 70mm GAF Aerial film in Ilfotec HC

Forced me to mix up the rest of a bottle of Kodak Fix with Hardner that had been half used, I'm kind of shocked that it was still good, though I've heard the Hardner is what does in the kodak rapid fix, so I'm glad after a year it was still good. Needed it 1 because the GAF doesn't have Hardner in it like modern films and 2 because it was exactly 2L to mix which was what I needed for the GAF.

11x14 Kodak Polycontrast III RC paper I got a couple years ago for free when the local art center darkroom was shut down. PlusX 125 film that was also old but refrigerated was shot in a Zies Ikon Nettar camera at f16 1/125 second. Development of the paper was in straight Dektol 1 min. Development of the film was in D76 at 68 degrees F for 9 minuets. This print was photographed in a Canon 5D camera. The subject is a church on the south side of Pittsburgh, Dec. 26, 2014

This is my first ever print in my new darkroom.

6 test sheets of Adox CMS 200 (5x4), shot in my homemade Bulldog Camera, to test out the MOD54 processing gadget I got for Christmas.

So as not to waste the chemicals, I also did a 135-36 roll of Rollei Retro 100 @ 400 that I found lying around waiting to be developed.

Both in Ilfotec DD-X.

Worked a treat :surprised:)

Yesterday developed 4 sheets of fresh (5x7) FP4+ and Arista EDU in PMK as test negatives. Today printed the same in EW's amidol developer on F3 AZO (old but still good).
Great improvement over the old Tmax 100 i had left over from the early 90's.

Purchased a bunch of 1$ brand new frames, ordered mats and printed a few 8x10s to try them out...

Kentmere Aphograph Bromide paper - 70 years old

I wondered what my roll of Kentmere Aphograph Bromide paper might be like after 70 years, so I tore a few squares off and tried it with increasingly large amounts of benzotriazole, the following was the outcome ... not quite like fresh paper, but then I expect I'll be a bit blotchy too when I'm 70-odd ... :D

Tri-X 400 in a Pentax K2, taking pictures in the yard. I just got my tanks set up and chemicals mixed, so I needed a test roll. I exposed several frames each at 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600. They all look pretty good on the negative. I love Tri-X.

After the test run, I'd say I need more time in the fixer. Otherwise, so far - so good. First roll I have developed in 20 years and I really can't complain about the results. Once I'm satisfied with my tank times, I can start running some 120 rolls through. Then I can get set up for contact printing. Enlargers are practically free on CraigsList, but I just don't have the space.

Some 127 Verichrome pan in Caffenol-C, mostly as a camera test (A tiny Zeiss Ikomat, 3x4 format. The most pockeyable camera I've ever seen.). It came out OK.
