Replaced hardened grease in Linhof Super Rollex 6x9. It seems to be working again.

Slowly worked on a hacked up Certo Six. There is enough there to make it shoot worthy... I just need to get it put together.

I replaced the beamsplitter but am still working on the mirror alignment.

The bigger annoyance is how the rangefinder stops moving at about 20 feet. It looks like its all directly coupled, like it may not be fixable via an adjustment. I can probably try building up the connection between the strut and the arm that drives the rangefinder. Its strange to me that the camera doesn't have a better way to handle this.

Good morning;

Actually this was last night, just before all of the large noises around the neighborhood really got up to full sound. A 6.3/400mm pre-set T-mount lens had a stuck aperture. Yes, a pre-set type that usually do not really care if there is oil on the leaves of the diaphragm. This one did. Perhaps it sat too long and the stuff finally gelled. It took a while to reload all of the cleaned leaves back into the holes on one side and the slots on the other side of the lens aperture control, but it is done. I might take it out today.

Disassembled and cleaned up a Gossen Vari-Angle attachment I bought today for my Lunsix 3 meter. It looked fine from the outside but there was some condensation-like material on some of the lenses. Now the two 'spot' modes as well as the regular 30 degree reflective mode all agree to within 1/3 stop.

If you try this, note: there are two different springs (one for the latch, one for the aperture mask) which you should watch out for, and the 'nuts' on the ends of the bolts are tricky little smooth cylinders that will fall out of their holes at the slightest provocation.

Started with a flea-bitten Yashica J. It got stripped, cleaned, the aluminum polished, installed new leatherette, touched up the black enamel paint. Looks like new! Now just need to tackle the internal lens elements... gulp.

Canon P.

Someone else had tried to open it up in the past and put the screws securing the lens mount back in the wrong order. Two on the top are long, two on the bottom are sort. They managed to bend the light shielding into the bottom of the camera, jamming the advance and all sorts of things. Had I known exactly what I was doing, it probably would have taken 15 minutes to fix or so. Not knowing, I disassembled a bit more than needed.

I haven't shot anything with it yet but it looks promising.

Deardorff parts

Just a note to let you folks know that we have a ton of brand new old stock Deardorff parts in stock, having purchased Jack Deardorff's remaining inventory after his passing a few years ago. If you need anything, look for us. A google search for "deardorff parts" or "deardorff cameras" should lead you to our web site.

Thanks,

A Paterson System 4 3 roll developing tank - the glue holding the red rim in place (and with it the filler lid!) had given way about half way around. I re-glued it, and everything now works.

Just replaced my Nikon EM's light seals with some adhesive backed Foamies brand black foam. I got them recently and have put them in 2 cameras so far. They sell them in 2mm thick sheets and are super easy to cut to size. Really cheap too!

Just fixed the sticking shutter on my YashicaFlex C. For the longest I had to warm up the shutter by firing it bunch of times while covering the taking lens, but afterward it would work fine. I finally got annoyed and searched for a few guides online. I had 2 options, the complicated removing the front leather and entire lens assembly, or the take out just the front element. I opted for the 2nd but I had worried because I didnt have a spanner wrench. To my surprise, the front element rotated out easily with my fingernails! Cleaned the shutter with a Q-tip and a bit of Naphtha very lightly, and worked it a few times while reapplying more Naphtha making sure not to have it too drenched to fall on the rear element. Works like a charm now! I just hope I didnt screw up the focus as I didnt check the point where I first unscrewed it. I just screwed it back in until it was tight. haha

I took a Copal No. 1 shutter with f/stops marked for a 180mm lens and recalculated the f/stops for a 210mm lens. I place pealable tape over the f/number and left the lines uncovered on one side of the lens. I marked the tape with the 210mm f/stops and repeated the steps on the other side. Now my 210mm Schneider-Kreuznach Symmar-S f/5.6 lens has the correct iris calibrations.

Not so much of a fix as I modified the flash for a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash to use an electronic flash.

I fixed the ttl meter coupling on my 'new' Pentax 67, it was all out of order and then I tackled cleaning the fungus out of my 105mm 2.4 tak. It went brilliantly.

Took the laptop my son-in-law gave up on and worked with it to fix the s-l-o-w start up and running. Then I increased its RAM and I am replacing the hard drive with a solid state hard drive that has twice the capacity. I loaded on Delorme Street GPS and Topological Map GPS. Yesterday and today during the hurricane, I loaded off road waypoints for California, Utah, Arizona and Colorado.

I purchased a floor mounted laptop computer holder so that the computer will sit over the gear shift, with the screen held open, and in front of the dashboard. The screen does not interfere with the view out the front window. Now the laptop has become a ruggedized GPS with simultaneous aerial views and topo maps for off roading.
