-1^ F right now; just got done clearing the driveway (with an Ariens snow blower). I never wear hats, but I actually had to find one of my father's old stocking caps half-way through because my ears were so cold.

I wonder if the stray cat we took in this summer realizes why she's an indoor cat now.

Don't you mean: The stray cat we took in this summer is wondering: "Do my current staff now understand why I let them treat me as an indoor cat?" 😉

I had a feeling it would be a bad idea to entrust December's weather planning to Roland Emmerich... 😬

LOL. She still wants us to let her out.

I'm a dog person - lived with dogs all my life - so this is a bit of a new experience. Not terribly different, though, especially since I've figured out the eyebrows and thus can read their faces better.

I've always liked cats but never had one until we were adopted by this stray... who was pregnant... and gave us 5 kittens. Then we took in a relative's cat and were up to 7. We've found homes for 2 of the kittens so far, so are down to 5 cats.

I now have ~15 rolls of cat pictures I need to develop sometime - not to mention the cell-phone photos.

It will show its gratitude by scratching you favor chairs and sofas.

A great day on the water in the kayak. Shoulders a little tight. A headwind did pick up after lunch that matched the tide we were riding back to the take-out (4 miles), so a little more effort required than anticipated, but not major -- nothing a hot shower can't fix.

Busy (and rain) tomorrow, but a kayak on Christmas morning might be nice...should be partly cloudy and mid-50s before I get on the water.

So far, three trees have come down on the property next to my parents', fortunately not when I was over there photographing.

It is relatively warm here at about 10 degrees C.

Any APUG members in Buffalo? As it sounds dire. Deadly lake-effect blizzard buries Buffalo in over 4 feet of snow.

High winds, trees and power lines down everywhere up here on the mountain. My stepson was driving down our street and a large branch hit the windshield in front of his face and penetrated, leaving a 4" diameter hole in the glass. Scared the bejeepers outta him and his girlfriend (it was her new car). Good thing it was safety glass, and it didn't come all the way in. We've been running on the back up genny for several hours, most of the area is in the dark.

Wow! Stay safe!

Holy shoot! The snow is hard to comprehend, a meter in one storm. Trees are wicked, I sold my fancy chainsaw when I moved back to the city. I have a friend who has all that stuff, but the both of us have called "a guy" last couple times.

Stay safe!

Still running on the genny, 13+ hours. Power company told us power would be restored by 10 PM, reality is you can't put a man in a bucket twenty feet into the air with 80+ MPH winds. A house at the bottom of the mountain has a tree in their living room this morning, fortunately no one was injured. Oh yeah, a thin coating of ice, didn't see that coming(wasn't predicted).

Latest update from the power company, power should be restored by 11:00PM Monday the 6th. Nearly 100,000 customers without power in our area.

Photo of Nicole's(my step son's Girl friend) car, this happened in front of our house just as they were pulling into the driveway. Scared the whoopies out of both of them. Matt was driving, branch penetrated in about three inches, they said it sounded like a gun shot when it hit. 80+ MPH winds.

Hoping that works out for you.

That must have been a shocker!

As of 23:57, it's 22C outside.

I've never seen temperatures this warm during this period of the year, let alone on Halloween. Normally, it's cold outside. I mean, I remember a year when I was kid, it was so cold that my plastic Batman cape shattered when I closed the car door on it. This evening, I was barefoot in the grass and wearing shorts : /

Similar here in Ohio, Greater Cleveland Area. We've had warm and cold Halloweens, and at times I had to wear a winter coat and trick-or-treat in the snow.

Today was the warmest I remember. I was sweating just setting up the pumpkins as we waited for the kids.

It's been very warm and dry here September and most of October, finally cooled off the last few days. Had 130 kids for Tricks or Treats Halloween.

That's weird. We had 16°C last night at the same time and I live at 39° north. It's pleasantly and not unusually warm for this part of the year. Some years were much colder, but overall it's perhaps slightly warmer than usual. At 7:00 in the morning it's 14°C, sunny.

We're getting a few days of warm, a few days of chill (though not freezing), with a lot of wind. It's been happening all month. Unseasonably warm in general.

When the Great Lakes don't get very cold before winter, it generally means a ton of snow will occur (Lake Effect). So I look forward to shoveling the driveway as my main form of exercise.

No trick-or-treaters have ever come to my house - no sidewalk.

I scrolled up and saw that tree limb coming through the car windshield, reminded me of something I forgot to mention:

Weather was Flying Cars earlier this week. An old couple jerked the steering wheel while reaching for a sandwich, and hit the wooden utility pole in front of the house going like 50 mph. Miraculously, they appeared to only have minor injuries, even though their car flipped in the air, after completely cutting the utility pole in half and leaving the top half of the pole dangling from the wires. Could have easily gone very badly for them. I'm glad they survived, though I hope they consider re-prioritizing sandwiches. (I was of course digitizing film when I heard them smack the pole)
