I already mentioned that my Pentax ME weighs much less than my Leica M3.
Pentax MX too.
So let's not kid that it's because you want a light weight kit. It's because you want a free Leica.
Either way, this thread is very entertaining!
Ok, now add the lenses for that Pentax that parallel the lenses which I f have for a pocket camera with a greater range of possibilities; a good 28mm, 50mm, 90mm and of course, the 135, plus the hoods anduand colour correction filters, red, yellows, orange, green Polarizer and ND 10 stops, and the finder.
Yes, it is in part because of weight, the weight I chose in the form of kit, I want to work with, and that includes my physical abilities to carry the way I want to carry an every day kit and,the ability to have to hand what I might want on a walk about, as well as other factors.
I've been pretty clear I've other 35mm cameras,SLRs, etc. Including Pentax, so it shouldn't be any surprise to anyone that offering alternitives or simply saying, "use this" ordor this equals that, etc, suit as substitute kit, for what I'm looking for.
I do no mind being entertainment, however, have enough respect for the clowns to realize, only one type of tiny car will work for this show, and they know better why it will fit their needs, than what others think.
Cheers.

Gotta agree with this BrianGolly, folks... give the guy a break. If you don’t like his request, or him as a person, just ignore. It’s really as easy as that.

Those equivalent Pentax lenses are tiny. the 28 2.8 is almost a pancake. the 50 f2 is tiny and light etc
You do know that a good Leica 28, 50, 90 and of course, the 135, plus hoods and filters etc would cost over $6000? Or do you expect those free too?
You have made it clear you have other gear as you mention above, but I guess selling that stuff to finance the Leica doesn't make any sense if someone can just give you one.
... and, perhaps, a bit mean-spirited... in a slightly “passive-aggressive” way.Fun but not particularly witty banter, perhaps?
But I did, all the way up to the M9. Just need to exercise a bit of judgement and make sure that things are clean and properly dried-out afterwards.I don't take the Leica out in the rain or the fog or the snow or the cold weather.
Near my old office, I used to see a late-model Lamborghini parked in a strip mall, and it appeared it was someone's daily driver. I figured if I ever met the guy, I'd want to shake his hand simply for being awesome. Why buy a Ferrari, when you can buy a utilitarian car with 4 wheels and an AM radio.
I would freak out if somebody scratched it. lol
This is one of the aspects of used gear that I love.
No matter how well cared for, all used cameras and lens, carry marks, be it visible, hidden or psychological, which allows the photographer receiving the kit, to no be bothered by the same stresses, of making that first mark, scratch or ding, that somehow, mentally allows you to see a 'taint' the camera, so it can be used in a worry free style.
That, IMO, is a blessing, no to be lightly overlooked, by those of us that have bought all 'New" cameras and Lenses as part of a 'System' and then fretted over every bump to the bag, sometimes for weeks or longer killing the Joy of Using that New Kit, to make the photographs we want to make.
I'm old enough to have worked through those angst's, for myself, but for some, its a lifetime thing and that's a shame, as that camera/lenses will have become more of a burden, than a tool for expressing one's self and documenting the World as they see it.
Collectables are one thing, but nursing a new camera like a newborn, is altogether something else, and your photography will suffer for it.
Normal carry in a bag, or on a shoulder, will impart marks soon enough, and all it requires is for you to pick up that bag/camera and carry it everywhere you venture, out of the home, to the store, across town, on a bus ride, or across the street to look at your neighbor's new car, so, after awhile, you'll simply tire of the shots you're no making and pull out the kit and make the photograph that'll free you; every shot taken after that first one or three, will carry you away from the stress that was making you so miserable in the first place, and you can once again breath free.
IMO.
I don't know that anyone from Leica Geosystems reads these posts. The current company that owns that brand name (not to be confused with the original company) might get their panties In a twist over such misappropriation,
"The current company that owns that brand name" is a legitimate descendant of Leitz. When a firm splits into 3 new entities only one of them can own the brand name, the others may become licencees. Furthermore the amateur-camera manufacturer amongst them has undergone the most weird ownership changes and likely would be the least best owner of that brand name. The current company that owns that brand name (not to be confused with the original company) might get their panties.
Bump, with change. to include ask for non-working kit to try to repair myself, or for parts for a future repair.
