The only Leica still camera I got, I bought for just 5 Euro . One of those Japan-made AF-compacts. At home it turned out dead....

The Leica market is weird. A great lot of Leica products can be had locally for a few Euros, just not the still rangefinder cameras and resp. lenses.

I'm pretty sure there's a deadline on short -- if you don't grow out of it by age 18 to 20, you aren't going to. I managed to get to "average" by then, and had to live with that. Fortunately, I never really cared about "tall".

It helps when shooting over crowds, but then again, that is what TLRs (or any waist level finder) are for.

I don't think I'm ready to hold my RB67 upside down over my head, thank you just the same. Nor even my Reflex II. For me, that calls for a wide lens and "point and hope" framing.

I am looking about for a functioning 'user', warts and all, no a collectable or valuable collectors piece (yes, I know they are all of valuable in one sense or another), but a solid working camera with the wear and tear of hard use and misadventure, that still delivers the shot.

This would be my daily, carry camera, as the SLRs in 35mm have gotten bulky, especially when i carry medium format kit.

No equipment made available to me, will be sold or traded away, as a condition this, will be sold, or traded away, but like any other camera, lenses, enlargers, etc passed on to me, will be made available to people who are carrying forward analog photography into the future.

If my method of asking for such a valuable item offends you, I will only mention that I have, for years, received and passed on, kit, usually to younger photographers starting out, that I have receive this same way and, some I simply bought and no longer needed, and one day any kit I might receive as a result of this ask, will be passed on the same way.

Do this.. buy a Kodak Retina IIc or IIIc on Ebay. Send it to Chris Sherlock, at RetinaRescue dot com. He will CLA it for about $150 (USD) and for 210$ you will have a Kodak Rangefinder that will go head to head with any Barnack Camera out there. The Kodak is pocketable and the IIc has a 50mm f2.8, and the IIIc has a 50mm f/2.0. The IIc has no lightmeter but the IIIc does have a lightmeter and they work great and are very accurate. The Barnack IIIc/f with a 35mm Summaron will cost you about $700 out the door. The Kodak Rangefinder with a nicer Viewfinder will cost you about $200. Honestly you wont be able to tell the difference in the image and you will be able to sell a Cleaned, Lubed and Adjusted Kodak Retina for exactly what you paid for it either here or over at Rangefinder Forum.

The reason I keep mentioning getting work done on it, is that without a good cleaning, lubing and adjusting, you are just wasting film on a process that will most likely give you not repeatable results. You need a camera that is reliable over and over. Don't buy new. buy used. If not here then KEH.

You know that the OP wanted a Leica not a Pentax regardless of how good the Pentax is. And of course he wanted to pay only $10 for one. Otherwise there is nothing to talk about.

My Nikon F with prism finder (without lens) weighs 1.69 lbs and my Leica M3 (without lens) weighs 1.43 lbs. Not much of a difference that would be noticeable when comparing cameras that are of similar vintage and capability.
