Very nice to get that at a sale.
I missed out on inexpensive older Leicas. When In art school, I had a new SL2000F, many others had the new F3 Nikon that just came out and my friend had both a Leica III and a new New Canon F1.
We all tried the old Leica and considered it a pig to use compared to the new cameras and had no interest in it. Of course many years later I'd like one some day.

IIRC, post-war Leica Chrome was a bit problematic, at least that's what I read.

The C I had did no have this issue, but I have to ask, is this from that time frame, and if so, how is the inside?

Yes, it's post war, the serial number dates it to 1949. I have a IIIf made in 1950 that has the same problem, not near as bad as this one though. Not sure how long they had that problem for after the war.

The F-1N you just bought would be my preference--do you not like it?

I love it but as I've said, I prefer a lighter daily carry, with the smaller lenses in LTM, especially when away from whatever kit I carry in a car to work out of.

Some days, you do no want to attract a lot of attention with a big black or chrome SLR and lens(es) or bag, but be able to shoot out of a jacket pocket of deep pants pocket and minimum kit of film, filters, lenses, such as a collapsible 50, or a pancake wide angle, etc.

Thanks for the question, but for right now and likely the none too distant future, having a transport, car, or four wheel carry-all for trails, beaches etc, will have to be the way of it.

Now if I can find an ATV and trailer in some dusty closet or garage, and go camping on the Outer Banks, Yakima desert, or Mid-West wheat field.

Cheers and Godspeed,
Eli

Darco, Thank You Very Much for the offer of the Olympus RC, a beautiful little camera, but it will no take any of my LTM M39 lenses, all but one are FSU, the one being a small, Japanese "Sun" 90 mm.

Since I have some "Poor Man's Leica, most all point and shoots, as much as I would like to try the RC, I would no like to take that camera, with a false promise that it would satisfy my 'Ask' of the impossible Leica.

Again, Thank You and, Godspeed.

Eli

If Eli gets his Leica for $10, I will open another thread to try and get one too.
Do it now... make it a contest to see who gets one first!

If there’s a big enough demand then supply might increase.

"Won't that cost more than a Leica?'

Only if I get caught poking around the wrong garage ☺️

An appeal to all posters here.

Can this web site go any lower than the likes of this?

I throw the question open to all. Over to you.

I will say no more, for good.

Yes, it can go lower than the likes of this. Ever been to the Soapbox? This is nothing....

I don’t see anything wrong with Eli’s original post. He’s made a request and it’s up to any potential sellers (and only them) to fulfill that request or not.

Although it may sound like an unrealistic request, it’s perfectly acceptable nonetheless.

The only thing I find wrong is people attacking or making fun of Eli because of that.
