Last night I was sorting some prints I made between five and ten years ago and one of them was so tonally rich, I had to flip it over to see if I had recorded the paper type.
MCC 111, it was...
I was a very satisfied MCC user, finding it the first paper in memory which didn't need selenium toning in order to give a pleasing color.
Coincidentally, I called Freestyle yesterday to inquire if they had any more of the sample packs of the ADOX MCC 111 that forum members have been talking about. Apparently, they don't at this time but are expecting some kind of paper shipment from ADOX later this month.
Like many others, I'll be placing an order as soon as the paper is available.

The thread has become so long now that I think it does not hurt to post things twice in it for the purpose of easy access to important informations.
The current status of the project is as follows:
1) We made the MCC test run (out of which the samples were cut) on a machine used one step prior to full scale production.
The tests were 95% on the spot, minor adjustements have been carried out.
Our coating slot for MCC is July August. We cannot speed this up as there is no empty slot to make fibre base paper before this date.
The emulsions for the coating run are currently beeing made and cool-stored.
2) MCP however (the RC version of MCC) is not so critical in production (from a cleaning the coating line afterwards point of view) so MCP we will coat in about 4 weeks in glossy and matt. This is the shippment Freestyle made reference to.
3) We will sell the paper in NA through Freestyle.
4) The papers are called ADOX MCP and ADOX MCC. We chose not to license the Agfa brand in order to bring you the paper at the best possible price.

I recently sent an e-mail to ADOX to inquire about being a tester for MCC. Is it too late?
If so, it's a shame, but regardless I am more than excited that MCC is being brought back. It's such a wonderful paper, I can't wait to get my hands on some.

I would also love to test this stuff. I am a little sad about it losing the creamy base colour though. I still have 3 boxes of the AGFA. Where do I send an e-mail to?

I tested the MCC and love it. I wasted four papers before I got a good one from the test package.

Finally I got around to use the test package, using an older negative of mine from 1999. Since I still had some Agfa MCC in 8x10 (and the print recipe for that image) I started with the Agfa, then transferred to the Adox and made a direct comparison. Developer was Harman Warm Tone 1+9 and both prints were toned in KRST 1+11 for 3 minutes. I needed about 10% less exposure for the Adox MCC than for the Agfa to get a really close match. Contrast and tonal relationships are identical to my eyes -great job! Seen side by side, the different paper base has an impact on appearance; for this image I like the slightly warmer Agfa better, but the Adox is a great paper in my opinion. I would now like to try it in a cold tone developer for different images, but I guess I have to wait until it is available in August. I can't wait to use it more, and a thumbs up to Fotoimpex for doing this.

It took me even longer than Arne to print on the samples, but results were outstanding. Last weekend I managed to set up the temporary darkroom (downstairs bathroom).
I still have most of a 100-sheet box of Agfa MCC 111 in the refrigerator and used some of it to establish contrast/exposure settings. I never liked the slightly warm base and image tone of that paper, but it was a perfect lead-in to trying Adox MCC111. Other than Adox's bright white base, the only difference seems to be 10% more sensitivity, exactly what Arne and others found. In my opinion, the results (contact prints from TMY2 and other film types as well as one enlargement from TMX) are extremely beautiful; close to neutral with deep blacks even untoned. I developed both the Agfa and Adox versions in Neutol Plus.
I hope the production coating in August goes well and we can purchase this wonderful paper later in the year. Thanks Adox!

There is still one thing I can hardly understand. Agfa photo is down, ok. But Agfa Gevaert is still alive, and their plant in Pont a Marcq, near Lille, is still in production. And as far as I know, following an interview of Philippe Tinet, former responsible for black and white, MCC was produced in THIS plant. So why Agfa gevart can't keep on coating this type of paper?
From my last box of 111, this paper was made in Leverkusen.

On my last one, there is the adress of Agfa Leverkusen, but it is written "Made in EU". That's to say not made in Germany.

the emulsions were made in Leverkusen and then shipped to France, where the paper was coated. Then shipped back to Germany (Windhagen) for packing.

No, not me, but friends of mine are working in the photo industry. But these news were no secrets, because this topic was discussed in some german photo forums some time ago and there were official statements from Fotoimpex, Maco etc. concerning this question.

no we wont but I thought I had said this here as well. Pont a marcqe was/is not available to us for fibre base coating because they have very dust sensitive products on this machine now and are afraid to coat fibre.
We will coat the fibre base paper on the original Agfa Leverkusen machine K once it is up and running again in it´s new location.
And because mooving such a machine is very complex we currently face some delays in shedule.
But there is nothing we can do but wait until K is running again. Hopefully we will be able to get going in late August.

MCP is back !
even though this thread is about MCC I would like to let you know that we succesfully coated MCP on monday.
The paper is currently drying and hardening with an estimated shipping date for europe by the end of august.
We are now acepting orders from our european customers.
