Hi Mirko.
I too would love to try out your samples, but my two emails via the website have gone unanswered.
I mourned the loss of Agfa MCC and now that you are in the process of bringing it back to life (so to speak), I'd really like to see how it compares to the very few sheets I still have remaining.

Keep up the great work!

The claim I've heard is that what Freestyle is selling is the last of Agfa's production, just in a different box.

Oh, I didnt realize that.
I bought some of the last of Arista Private Reserve which is the original AGFA MC Premium in Freestyles own packaging.
I wonder what is in the ADOX packages they sell?

...The machine we will do the MCC on is currently beeing installed in the new building but not running yet.

We are still sending out samples of MCC. If someone did not get one please inquire again...
Mirko, if there's any competition for resources at Fotoimpex, please direct efforts toward Adox MCC. Regardless of how nice MCP might be, MCC will be the superstar of your product line!

If anyone thinks they might have an interest in Adox MCC, I strongly encourage requesting an evaluation sample. If you don't, I just might ask Mirko to send me more.

Sal,

we are thinking the same way. MCC has top priority once the machine is up and running. See there are two types of engineers: Emulsion making and coating.
The emulsion making crew has it all set and is waiting now for the coating guys to get their machine back up and running. In the meantime they brought some emulsion to another factory and had it coated there to make MCP.
We can´t do this with MCC because this machine is not adapted to make fibre and the owner does not want fibre products on it.

So making the MCP is the best we can do rigth now while we have to wait.

Thank you all for your continued support in this.

Best regards,

Mirko

I'll second with emphasis on what Mirko has said. There are emulsion engineers and coating engineers. I'll add a third, - product engineers. Together, they make a team that turns out the stuff you buy.

And, to add on top of that, the RC papers can be mainly coated where film is coated (with a little cleanup) but FB is very messy and dirty and requires a thorough cleanup before film can be coated on the same machine.

Therefore, Mirko is faced with some tough decisions and he seems to be doing quite well. The only thing that surprises me is that FB and RC papers generally have different formulas if they are to have similar properties such as speed, curve shape and keeping. FB support absorbs chemicals and RC does not, and this change in chemical environment changes the emulsion response.

I didn't read "brought some emulsion" to mean the same emulsion.

Ah, but the funny thing about MCP / MCC is that unless something changed substantially in late production runs, they didn't have the same curve at all. MCP was distinctive for having a very short toe, in fact to my knowledge it was the only really short-toed VC paper left on the market after Polycontrast III RC was discontinued. That made it a nice match to TX, and if the new MCP behaves similarly, it will fill a useful niche in the market.

MCC had a longer toe, more in keeping with the overall trend of the market since the introduction of the T-Max films, though not so extreme as you'd see in many other VC papers.

I've happily used both, and am still working through my last few boxes of Agfa MCP and MCC. I'm looking forward to seeing both of them back on the market and will likely keep some of each on hand along with the various Ilford Multigrade papers.
