Convex, unless you are on the other side of the lens.

Yes. First (brightest) reflection is small and upright, indicating a convex surface. Your lens is in its original position.

The other thing that can emphasize the blurry corners is if the 6x6 mask is missing. These cameras were originally 6x4.5, were switched to dual format, but a lot of examples of the 120N had only the 6x4.5 frame mask and people would just remove that to shoot 6x6. This results in opportunities for film scratching, a well as letting the film hold more curvature than it would with the mask in place.

If you like that look, you can probably just pull the mask out of your other Holga to get similar results.

I actually ordered a 120N because of the fine images on Photrio.... however....I canceled the order because it meant I'd have to get a flatbed scanner...which I probably will do for other reasons.

I have never loved cameras, but my new Pentax K70 may change that.

There are plenty of DIY options of back lighting a negative and using a DSLR camera to take a picture. The Holga is quite a magic camera if you let it be.

I've been shooting with a couple of Holga 120N's lately and have been enjoying it. Given this time of social distancing and not knowing when I'll get out again, I thought it would be nice to start a recent thread of Holga shots. I'll start.

If you want to shoot 6x6 without the mask, simply cover the right and left frames with a non-stick black tape to prevent scratching. It's also easy to add tension to the film rolls to decrease curvature.

Here's one from my Holga Pan 120:

It doesn't get quite Holga enough - only the corners/left-right ends are smushy, and even then not terribly so. But I do like the big negative it gives- it's a noticeably larger area than my Belair X6/12, and a more panoramic aspect ratio - the Belair is truly a 53x106mm ish area, but the Holga is a solid 56x 124mm-ish (5x11.25 ratio, rather than 5x10).

Another Holga Week has come and gone and I didn't get any placed again this year.

I tried a different direction this year with some multi-exposures and attempting not to have images that were "too perfect". Here are the three entries.
