That Efke IR is lovely stuff. I've got several sheets of it in 8x10 and 4x5. Lovely image. It has a real 3D feel to it.

Thanks Andrew. Yes, I have 6 rolls of it in 120 left. Will really cherish it. I have seen some nice work with SFX200, but haven't tried it.

taken on a hike around the western area/shore of lake Tahoe. rollei retro 80s metered at 3 hoya 720 filter contax G with the 45mm lens. F4 1/60 second. film was reversal processed, which adds to the already high contrast of this film, but I dont care, I love projecting B&W slides. it was REALLY windy that day, so when peeping, it seems to not be sharp. but I still love the results I got that day. shot 3 rolls and could have shot more as the thunder clouds really came in over the lake.

Thanks GLS, that is all fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) in the understory (not flowering) and mostly all burnt Douglas-fir with a couple of Ponderosa Pines mixed in.

Here's my first attempt at some IR photography. Hopefully some of you guys can give me some tips for improving, some of my shots were disappointing.

All on Agfa Aviphot 200. (Rollei Superpan 200) I shot at F16 and 1/250th for the unfiltered shots, and F16 and 1 second for the shots with a Zomei 720nm filter for the IR filtered shots. I'm linking the photos instead of attaching due to file size.

My favorite of the set first...

This one was disappointing. The unfiltered is only a little better but the contrast on the unfiltered is so high.

This one is OK. Could be better, but this is only my 7th roll of film.

What developer did you use? That could be a factor. Also the way they have been scanned and post-processed may be exaggerating the grain.

Ilford Ilfotec RT in a leader card processor. I have not started developing my own film yet. I think I'm going to try Diafine, my grandfather said that was one of his favorites and he's the one going to teach me. It is a bit costly at 100$/gallon but it supposedly lasts until you just run out if you're careful with it.

There are so many developers out there that are very capable of excellent results at a fraction of the price... or you could just mix up your own. Something simple like, D-23. You only need two chemicals, metol and sodium sulfite.

I will look into some of them. I saw that there were literally hundreds of black-and-white developers, and I have done a lot of chemical surface processing of metal parts for the machine shop (I owned and ran a machine shop, now I teach machine tool and engineering) so handling chemicals isn't a problem-for me it's just the storage of the chemicals. My current place is small and shared so I don't have room for a real darkroom, just my changing bag. My grandad has been encouraging about being able to do developing with just the changing bag, so it looks like I'll learn developing in late august or september. (School starts in 2 weeks...)
