The metal pieces that hold the lens board onto my Speed Graphic have gone walkabout.

Is this the bit you need?

If so, if you send me your adress I will post it to you.

I think she means the two sliders top & botton

I think you're right. I have those too. They will also be cheaper to post! (only the top one slides, the bottom one is fixed).

Thanks!

It doesn't hurt mine. What method did you use?

Steve

I removed part of the coating and used Ferric Chloride etch, Edinburgh Etch to be exact.

mornin'

thought I'd finally get around to posting an image of my latest build. It's similar to the first in design, but because I was planning to carry it around Sri Lanka for a month it had to be smaller and lighter. It shoots up to 3"x4" polaroid/paper and can use a 6x9 roll film holder.

It worked great on the trip and was strong enough to take the bumps, something the first wasn't able to do.

so anyway, here it is...

Do you have any interest in a Polaroid CB-70 back that takes Integral Film (TIP/The Impossible Project)? I have 2 and don't need both, actually I don't need either but I haven't quite given up on my RZ67 mod to have an integral polaroid back... but anyway I don't need both of them, so if you're interested let me know. I payed $300 for them so I would prefer to break even, but if that's too high perhaps we can work a trade on one of your sweet mods, you obviously have more skill than I do in that department.

The Polaroid 110A/600SE with roll film back.

Wanted a 6x9, it would be silly to stick anything less on this big brute of a camera. Since the M-adapter type backs obscure the viewfinder, and the G-type adapters only allow RB67 roll film backs, I went and made/adapted my own solution. Took an adapter probably taken off a CB-70/103 pack film back, and a Graflex 23 I went about getting the film plane right. This meant grinding out a trough 3.2mm deep in the adapter plate.

The roll film holder has no means of fixing to the adapter. So I made a skirt of 1/8" aluminium, glued it to the holder and then bolted it to the adapter. A bit of paint and light tight foam later and hey presto:

4x5 Pinhole

Built out of an IKEA Bjurön plant pot (now no longer available, pity had a few more ideas using this pot), and a Sinar 4x5 back. Shutter and pinhole mounted internally. Shutter design pilfered from others on the net, a sliding opening sprung loaded, actuated by a locking cable release. 118mm focal length, 0.400mm hole, f304ish. Daytime shots on EI 100 films range from 8-30 seconds depending on reciprocity (sunny 16). Shadow shots from 30 to 200 seconds. Not tried night shots yet

Looks like it has a Polaroid pack film back.

Yes Steve. As it stands it will take Type 100 pack film and 120 rollfilm (up to 6x9). But without too much work a 545 Polaroid back can be adapted, or you can use a ready adapted NPC back for 4x5. Admittedly not with full coverage, but the opening in the baffle halfway through the body can be widened, no problem. Exactly why it's there at all is a mystery. The body is cast in one piece and tough as nails.

The good thing about the 600SE system is that is so extensive. Extension tubes to the rear for macro, all sorts of 120 backs, finders (ground glass, 45 degr reflex) etc etc. The list goes on.

Are the 600se and the mamiya clone basically interchangeable? Or is one better for some reason,

I think the only difference was that the Mamiya had a wider range of lenses - the only thing that couldn't be swapped between the 2 systems...
I'm happy to be corrected tho'

The 600se is more like a specific version of the Mamiya Universal, made by Mamiya for Polariod. The most significant difference is a different lens mount, and that the Mamiya has a wider selection of lenses (the 50mm, 65mm, 100mm and 250mm lenses are only available for Mamiya). I believe the back adaptor system also is different, but the 600se can use Mamiya roll film holders with the appropriate adaptor.

Great cameras in any case, although large and heavy.

Right you are Trond. The lens mount was deliberately change to avoid swapping between the two. And the only difference in the back adapters is the shape of the claw. The Mamiya claw is in one piece, whereas the Polaroid claw is split down the middle. In all other respects they are equal. The adapter can be swapped from one to the other (a matter of some screws) or the claws themselves can be moved from one to the other. I chose Polaroid because that was what I already had (CB103 backs, Graflex 23 adapted to Polaroid 600SE etc).
