I recently got a Nikon lens that had a F55 camera attached to it - lens will be kept but the camera body will be moving on. But before sending it out to the market again I would like to try to fix the AF issue on a otherwise fully working and nice looking camera.

The camera hunts in AF and can never lock focus. Also happens with different lenses. In MF the camera never recognizes that it is in focus, even if visually I can estimate that it is.

I've tried cleaning the contacts, no luck. Is there any suggestion towards making this an easy fix? Or is it a part that has quit life and will not be easily replaced?
