From post 7 "I can assure you that the battery itself had nothing to do with either issue.." This is you directly contradicting a repair report with pictures.
"Any particular reason you're doing this here and now? I can see no good just ego stroking which should be done privately. Stop it." Martin Crabtree asks you why you are doing this.
"Up front you come off as being the only one in town who can properly repair a F2" seems like your impression.
"Fact: I never questioned his ability.." You called Mr.Wongs honesty into question instead. See Post 7.
I can assure you that the battery itself had nothing to do with either issue.
Hi SeanThis is an assertion.
"Something declared or stated positively, often with no support or attempt at proof." from the "Free Dictionary"
I professionally repair equipment far more complex and dangerous than clockwork cameras. I have done this since 1985. After years of training.
I would never make a comparable statement about anything I didn't have my hands on.
Your assertion is the direct equivalent of calling Sover Wong a liar.
"Up front you come off as being the only one in town who can properly repair a F2"
You said that. Given the complete lack of supporting evidence I can only conclude this is an impression or opinion you are espousing.
Have fun with that...
Hi again,
I have quoted your own words to you.
Not interested in teaching english comprehension.
Read the thread from the beginning.....
As for that battery chamber, it was not previously repaired by epoxied and I have not seen a battery chamber broken like that before. It was the loose piece from the battery chamber that dislodged the tape which pulls the shutter curtain.
This is what Sover Wong said about it. Maybe you should review the entire thread before making assumptions yourself.
Again the part is simply too large to squeeze between the mirror box and rear section of the crate.. In other words the broken battery chamber DID NOT cause the shutter tape issue..Period...
Since you choose to twist words you know nothing about, I will end this conversation.. But before I do so, I want to say again Sover Wong I'm sure is a competent F2 repairman and I have never questioned that. I simply don't care for his price structuring.. If you go to his website and read his different levels of service you'll see he does not fix certain possible issues found.. http://soverf2repair.webs.com/Images/f2_options.jpg
It has not occurred to you that you have made an assumption in your 2nd para? I'll leave that as an excercise...
If Sover provides a fixed price in his service schedules you would not expect him to fix every possible fault?
Knocking other people's marketing is the first thing they warn you about on a marketing course. I'll assume you have not been on one, as you seem to like. Or maybe it was so delinquent?
That is not an assumption.
Most camera repair techs still give a single price after evaluating the camera and that has been the best route.
Well ELeitz used to quote a price for a 'general service' for a M body: today that would be a CLA.
They inspected and did not proceed unless it was within there general service schedule. If it was outside they sent a quote.
They would do things not on a general service like replace parts, labour is expensive, I've had
I have been certified by Leitz since 1972 on the screw, SL, and M-serries and this is not true
Any particular reason you're doing this here and now? I can see no good just ego stroking which should be done privately. Stop it.
Leicarfcam, you keep back tracking what you said.
{snip}
I have had enough of your challenges, as I am not retired and I have a lot of work to do. So by all means criticise me as much as you want, and direct work to other people whom you dont know personally. You have not seen my work, and yet rate me as average. Many of my customers had used other repairers before, and only they can compare the quality of my work with others. I will not log onto APUG any more, because theres no point debating with a nameless, faceless person who thinks he can do everything.
Unfortunately-this went way too far.
I have been certified by Leitz since 1972 on the screw, SL, and M-serries and this is not true..
You explain what your camera needs and a single price is quoted and all work is done on that price..
The camera is completely stripped down serviced and new parts (as needed) added within this price.
Now when older screw Leicas were upgraded to IIIf specs or a double stroke M was upgraded to single stroke there was an additional charge over and above the actual service charge..
