If you only paid $130 for it it's worth paying to have it given a complete service that it probably badly needs because it could be up to about fifty years old and no machine works forever without some maintenance. I had both my Mamiya TLR's that I bought second hand more than 20 years ago serviced about four years ago and they both work like new, it was worth every penny.

hi Paul,

it doesn't seems like that the arm is bent. when i press the shutter mechanism after cocking the shutter with crank it goes 75% down on first try but not down enough to trigger the shutter. After first try then it won't go down at all. i have to manually fire the shutter lever on the lens, cock the shutter from the crank and move to next frame and repeat the steps.

thanks

The lock after the first press is the multi-exposure prevention. That is normal. There is nothing on the shutter release slide to change. Make sure the nub for the release is present as in the attached image.

Does the shutter release travel normally when the lens is not attached? You should be able to see the lock when looking at the inside left of where the lens mount is. There may be some debris in the way at the bottom of travel.

I get the idea that then lens may be what needs servicing and it's possible that, according to Graham Patterson, you have a very early 80mm that will not work on the C33.

I was playing with my C330 putting all my different lenses on and noticed something weird. I had it set to multi, with the lens locked and reset the counter by opening the door. It wound n fired perfectly.

So I tried another lens. Now I cant crank or fire it! I opened the back and also made sure it wasn't shutter locked (the little slider on the right fire arm).

Now I'm wondering what the heck is wrong with my camera. I haven't used it in over 30 years. I unlocked the lens n removed it to examine the works.. fired the lens manually and fired the camera, all seems to work just fine... I remount the lens and its working perfectly again.

So I changed another lens n it worked fine till I took the lens off to check something.... but after I put it back on it wouldn't fire again. I removed the lens, fired the camera, remounted the lens, all is fine again.

Seems it has some sort of mounting order.

So my suggestion... Reset the counter by opening the door. remove the lens and fire the camera. Now replace the lens and see if it starts working normally again?

Hi Cramej and Paul,

Shutter mechanism on the camera was not moving down even after removing the lens from the camera. Shutter lever on the lens mounted or otherwise was working buttery smooth. I guess there was some issue with shutter mechanism on the camera which was stopping it for moving down. I ended up returning the camera. Sorry, I am reading these messages late that the camera was dirt cheap as I was not aware of Mamiya TLR prices. Anyways it is too late now, camera is already on its way back to seller.

Thanks everyone for their advise and help.

Regards, Pendu

Hi ! Digging an old post here !!!

I am a huge fan of the Mamiya TLR system and actually have and C33 that has the same "issue".
I guess it is not a real issue but more an older automatic locking system :

When cranking the winder up to the first or next frame, the mechanical shutter release lever automatically locks, you simply need to rewind slowly the winder anti-clockwise by half a turn to free the mechanism and shoot your frame.

Then simply wind up to next frame and proceed again (half turn slowly anti-clockwise) to free the shutter mechanism

This is my way to shoot on the Mamiya C33, maybe its not the way it should normally fire but it works like that onnmy camera
