Going by Twitter & Facebook posts today from Kodak Professional, there's going to be an 'exciting' film related announcement at the end of the week...

As I stated 4 weeks before - you just have to wait a bit. No reason to have "panic" and no reason to speculate about Kodak will get bunkrupt before the new Ektachrome is out.

Unfortunately not on Ektachrome, see the following reply to a question:

I would not be pleased if a manufacturer of film goes buncrupt today. In case of Agfa it wasn´t so bad - because I loaded my refrigirator with Agfa Optima 400 / Agfa Portait 160 in 220 5 packs in large amounds and quantities for a livetime.
And you may remember the special prices of " Nordfoto " to that time. They have sold these films in a cheap way some worried about if the stuff may be contaminated extremly high radioactive
But this films were just from AGFA - NOT radioactive......:D

Kodak has stated Ektachrome will be available later this year. I'm guessing by Summer at the earliest. This announcement is probably because they're either bringing something back or introducing something new. I'm excited! I like good news from Kodak.

Who the hell is going to process it?!

Well - Kodak isn´t capable to handle this any more - too complicate, too expensive, too much regulated. There was a smart young lady who did it at home with simple regular development tools including the exposure steps ( temperated baths etc.).
But the threat is restricted now .....:whistling:.....?

with regards

PS : Who the hell is able to process it ? - indeed - KODAK itself isn´t able to acomplish K 14 developement.

I loved Kodachrome as much as the next guy but I have little interest in an additional color reversal film that even I, as a person who owns a photo lab, is unlikely to be able to process. I do know a lot of photographers that would love to see 220 come back, or a reformulated 800 - 1600 stock based on Vision 3 technology.

You are capable to process K 14 ?
220 films would be no problem ( if 120 films are on a list ) because it may be usefull to sell such rolls in 120ft.
Then you may prove your capabilities with self confection.....bandit:

Wow. Almost a thousand posts... no Ektachrome in any format, no functioning example of a movie camera, endless marketing S&M from kodak, and the feeding frenzy continues unabated.
Sad but edifying.

A lot of buzz in the photo comuunity, but is anyone going to by it in any significant quantity? How many rolls are you going to buy in a year?

You might have to know that post No. 1000 has to get a little gift from Kodak. I easily could imagine there are some Ektachrome test films remaining.
So hurry up folks and proceed !!!!

I would buy loads of Ektachrome. I have been using Afga Precisa for a year and love it to bits.

A month ago i got a 5 pack of provia 120 film and used 1.5 rolls last weekend. This was not only my first time using Provia, but also my best time using slide film in a medium format camera.

I can not wait for the results.

Do you guys think Ektachrome should set itself apart from current E-6 offerings? if so, how?

I think it should have a more muted and portrait-style colour pallet, as we already have high-contrast E-6 film.

Instead of some Ektachrome test film, please give me some New Kodachrome.

Thanks Kodak!

Regards

Color, not Ektacrhome, almost certainly not kodachrome, but wedding minded. Hmmm ... sounds like 220 film to me. They would be dopes to step on their own release of Ektrachrome with the announcement of another new film.

220
