This is getting me slightly exited to use colour film again. I've ordered some 250D, curious if anything will actually arrive.

Kodak has now officially announced the new film structure for their motion picture camera color negative film, with an anti-halation undercoat layer instead of remjet backing.

A case of photography film contributing to motion picture film. Except that unlike Kodak moving photography color negative film to polyester base, on the motion picture camera color negative film, "the new film support remains an acetate base" (as it should).

From the ASC article:
"...the silver-based layer for halation protection was chosen for several advantages: It's easily removed during standard motion-picture processing; it's proven technology from consumer films (still-photography products); the location of the AHU layer provides improved image quality;..."

ReflxLab announced their 320D in 35mm 36exp rolls:

On their site, they say "ISO: 250 if processed in ECN-2, 320 in C-41 (DX code is ISO400)":

ReflxLab announced their 320D in 35mm 36exp rolls:
$13 for 135/36. Add shipping and probably VAT & clearance costs. Domestically we pay around €10-€11 for a roll of entry-level Kodak C41 film (Gold, ColorPlus, ProImage). Vision3 is really nice film, but I'm not sure I'd pay more for it than for something like Gold.

I sympathize with your comment. Vision3 was great when you could buy it for about half the price of Kodak Gold. I remember not long ago that these were the prices here from respooling vendors.

Yeah, that was fun. Ended up with a lot of film that way; possibly more than I'll shoot before it goes off.

Last time I got some, shorts were $0.3/ft. 400 ft for a little over $120 after shipping…

Don't even tell me you'd let it go to waste. 😂
I have over 100 rolls in the freezer and I still buy them whenever I see a good deal.
Besides, the freezer problem (lack of space for food) was one of the hundred reasons my wife recently left me. 😂🤣😂🤣

When I was doing regular C41 and remjet ECN-2 side by side, I felt that the savings I have in the ECN-2 film has to be paid back in the extra labor in processing (especially getting rid of all remjet).

Now we have AHU ECN-2 film, I can live with the fact that it costs the same as regular C41 film. I will give Reflx Labs a try, having bought Kodak Aerocolor 2460 in 120 from them before.

I do wonder, where did Reflx Lab get their AHU V3 bulk rolls from?
They had a whole blog post about EK throwing the hammer down on respoolers last year, which I assume would mean they got caught up in that.

They have stated that although it’s harder, it’s not impossible for them to get. Friend in China says that it’s still common to find cine film there because apparently there are several production companies that will buy way more film than they need and sell the excess, if they even make movies at all.

As the saying goes, it's pretty much the "I know a guy who knows a guy (who also knows another guy)"

I await 500T in 36 exposure 135 cassettes....that's my jam.
Ultrafine has been selling those a while, and I think a few places in mainland Europe are selling it too

There are business entities that can be exempt from the VAT system (they pay VAT on their supply side (like we all, final customers, do), but don’t charge VAT to their customers and therefore don’t need to pay VAT to authorities since they never collected any VAT).

Such arrangements are normally reserved for very small one-person operations with a fairly low yearly limit of invoiced goods/services (like 50k EUR or thereabouts).

So, this could very well be a perfectly legal operation, but it might be short lived or this is their setup for the timebeing and they will transition to a more normal/formal business before they reach their legal limit and they will just start showing the amount of VAT charged then.

Are VAT taxes waived for governmental purchases or purchases by "tax-exempt" entities, like charities, churches, non-profits, etc. That happens in the USA with state Sales Taxes. So for example, the Vatican wouldn't pay VAT taxes on film and photo equipment and all other purchases used by the church.

Would only the last VAT tax waived or are the earlier ones waived as well? Do the various vendors and final purchasers know what the VAT taxes were along the way from the first to the last? Does the final purchaser know how much of the purchase was for VAT taxes? For example, Sales Taxes in the US are listed separately on the bill of sale from the net and gross amounts.

@Alan Edward Klein ,
Perhaps you should start a separate thread in the lounge asking, from a USA perspective, how the various VAT taxes are applied in various parts of the world?
If you do, I or one of the other moderators could move one or more of your posts sprinkled through other threads to that thread.

Oh indeed that's what is in the Candido 800 I've been buying for a while.....I'm waiting for the new "sans Remjet" version.
The stuff Ultrafine is currently selling, and has been selling a few months now, is the AHU film.

You sure about that? Which model and SKU are those? At least the last batch of Motipix I bought from them (several months ago) has remjet on.
I think it’s just the normal 500T they sell now, I know several people have gotten bulk rolls of the AHU stuff, maybe the cassettes are still using leftover remjet stuff.
