Beads mean too little Photo-flo.
Bubbles mean too much.

i know but... when the film strip has been in place hanging from the shower rod for half an hour.. and their still be bubbles of water stuck to it. How does one get rid of them...

Haaa, that’s where gently rocking the tray comes in, to avoid bubbles. Also I remove from reel, then run through. The filmstrip coming up from the tray should sheet off water without leaving droplets. Maybe the concentration matters here too. The other thing is to trust the process to be fine, just leave it alone until it dries. Probably hard to do with film hanging in the shower because you probably want to use it.

Perhaps it should be noted that Photoflo does not make the film dry faster; in fact it holds water and the film dries more slowly, albeit more evenly.

or in theory would it hold the glycol instead of the water, and glycol being used as a humectant, thus dry more slowly? I did state that this is the first time i have had an ilford film dry so well and nicely straight.

sure , a 16 exp roll DOES dry differently then a commercial 36 exp, but this only curled on the solid black portions when hung up.

I’ve given up with any of the Flos - Aunt Flo, Flo Henderson, Flo Nightingale. Flo and the Machine.

I just use regular water and kimwipes. 4 kimwipes per roll.
