I finally got around to developing a roll of Kentmere 400. XTOL-R, 12 minutes in a Jobo.
Have you done any of your curves on Kentmere with Xtol? I followed the massive development chart and gave a 35mm roll 9:30 in a Jobo and I think it's underdeveloped.
Yes, 9:30 minutes may not enough. So far, I have been developing Kentmere 100 for 12 minutes and Kentmere 400 for 14:30 minutes at 20C in replenished XTOL to give me a CI of around 0.6. I have not finished the full test yet, but it's coming soon. I hope.
Well, if Ilford introduced D400 in sheet sizes, I would be very happy...but, I believe Simon Galley years ago, explained that if they did that, it could impact on sales of HP5. I guess the same could happen with if sheet sizes of Kentmere were brought to market.
That is an excellent result compared to lots of other films, and especially compared to the other "low-budget competitors" Fomapan 100 and 400.
Just an addition, which I think is important:
In my tests with Kentmere 100 and 400 in 135 format so far I've found that with several developers the "official box speed" is indeed very realistic.
Doing sensitometric tests and evaluating the characteristic curves of both films in different developers resulted in either getting box speed or only 1° DIN (1/3 stop) less light sensitivity. Only rarely (with few developers) a loss of 2° DIN (2/3 stop).
That is an excellent result compared to lots of other films, and especially compared to the other "low-budget competitors" Fomapan 100 and 400.
Best regards,
Henning
Indeed, these Kentmere films will give Fomapan a very harsh competition, considering that in B&H photo the Kentmere 100 in 120 is announced at a significantly lower price than Fomapan 100.
I'm continuing to explore the properties of the new Kentmere 120 films, and I'm finding them excellent in every way. Today I explored the swampy woods near the house with Kentmere 400 loaded in the Medalist II, exposing it at 250 ASA and developing it in PMK (Pyro).
It exposes well, appearing to be very close to its box speed. It handles overexposure reasonably well (You can get usable negs with up to 2 stops overexposure), and retains excellent shadow detail when exposed correctly. It behaves beautifully when processed in PMK Pyro - I can barely see any grain in the images. (And the K-100 is even better!)

This is a gorgeous photograph. Do you think Kenmere 100 in 120 is a reasonable modern replacement for Verichrome Pan? Or possibly Panatomic-X?
Great tonality! Is this a scan?
I get a file not found with your link
Hilarious if B&H is demanding preferential pricing, yet isn't listing it any cheaper than the broader market ($5.80/roll, which seems to be the going rate in the US). Must figure they'd rather have better margins on it than sell it at all.
I preordered some from B&H way back in December and received it a couple weeks later. Apparently, they're out of stock.Very excited to get to try some of this stuff, but the wait is interminable. Harman announced it back on December 1, but seem to be taking their sweet time to get it distributed. Still nothing at Freestyle or B&H, which you'd think would've been among the first places to get it in North America. Hoping to get it from Freestyle so I can combine with an order for more L110 developer.
Wonder what the holdup is?

It's been in stock in Canada for over a month. I've had good results from the 400.
