Hello APUG from FILM Ferrania (PART 2)

No explanation has been given, the film has standard still perforations not movie spec perforations which can in a few motor driven cameras give problems, I have used an F6 others have used other drives with no issues reported.
The film attachment is to the standard spool centre as with Kodak, ilford etc not taped.

Rest easy no one has reported an issue, yet, see above post, I'm sure your Canon is a smooth as my F6 Nikon, well almost sure

The news was made quite public - and continues to be since we update the document periodically... We have posted any number of times and on all platforms about the Best Practices document. It's also prominently placed on our P30 page with a giant icon for download.

Not sure how many times I've mentioned the Best Practices on APUG specifically - but I'm assuming you guys are savvy enough to at least check our website every now and then.

That said, avoiding motor drives is a recommendation, not a rule (as the document says).

It is the base material. We are of course not making our own yet, so we must buy it from a third-party and it did not have the tensile strength along the edges, outside the perforations, that we wanted.

FWIW, our base is triacetate, not polyester.

The spooling is done with a professional machine, even if it's really just a glorified version of a hand-loader and not our industrial-scale machine (also yet to be installed). Spool detachment has not been reported yet.

I'm really stunned that you got such consistent results shooting at that spread of ISOs! So stunned that I forwarded you Flickr link to Italy to get their thoughts.

The good news is that most of these show the "softer" curve we see when we develop in D76, and not the very high contrast we typically see with aggressive developers like HC-110, XTOL, etc.

*Really folks - D76 is the best chemistry for this film, all things being equal...*

As more film is going out and more processing techniques are coming it, it's becoming clear that the film really is quite flexible and can be processed "to taste".

I guess it remains to be seen on a broad scale, but I'm quite proud of what my teammates are producing.

Let me go back and double check. I don't recall any significant grain. Let me make sure I didn't grab one of the files that I was playing with.

Dave, any chances in the future to get bulk rolls Ok unperforated 35mm or 16mm P30? I would work fantastically as double 8mm film stock! (Already perforated 8mm film would be ideal, but I guess it is low on the priority list)

I don't know where to find your mail address so I'll respond here. The card company rep couldn't tell me where along the line the error happened and just reversed it the recurring part on my account. I can imagine that this could've happened anywhere along the line, If you can tell me where to find your email address I'll be glad to provide the order info if you think you need to follow up at all on your end. That’s what I keep trying to convey to film manufactureres since years. Film Ferrania might eventually collaborate with Wittner to have small gauges perforated. Basically, FF have perforators for all formats, including 9½ mm and 105 mm. Ilford don’t understand (Pan F plus), Kodak are still a bit stubborn (Ektachrome), Adox don’t get it (CMS 20 II), and so on.

There are thousands of Double-Eight film cameras only waiting for, I dare saying it, cheap film. It’s a matter of marketing alone. I repair film movie cameras every day, right now I’m having another Bell & Howell Filmo 8 Double Run apart and finished work on a Paillard-Bolex H-8 Reflex yesterday. Kodak will bear with a dead baby when finally bringing that plastic Super-8 thing out. The old all-metal cameras and projectors will keep their value.

These are a couple regular 8mm frames of P30 from the 60ies, looks very beautiful when projected. It would be a very nice alternative to fomapanr. In the meantime, I can't wait for my 35mm P30

Yep, 1 for your black and white, 1 for the company, 1 for Ferrniachrome. No one should Hijack thread to talk about other E-6 stuff (Even though I'm guilty of doing that) I think there should be a P30 Celebration Thread!

Since this is the "industry news" segment, a thread concerning progress at getting the colour products might be good, another on the Progress of the line of B&W products. (hopeful that we will see some other fantastic films)

another on progress toward "classic sizes" like 620, 127, 126 and 110.

Some of these might include efforts by other firms to serve these market niches.

Some other segments may also be sutable places for Ferrania threads.

for example a tread on "Getting good results with Ferrania B&W on the "
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)" forum.

I'd go completely nuts - or totally silent - if I tried to follow that many threads... But you raise a good point.
