I like Kentmere 200 and I am very lucky to have ordered it as soon as it became available in Germany. It was quickly sold out.

Now, nearly no shop in Germany has Kentmere 200 on stock. I am surprised about it. How is the situation in other countries? Is it available or not, e.g in the USA, in the UK or in Switzerland? Any idea why it is not available in Germany?

Here in the USA, the two places where I usually order film are B&H Photography in New York and Freestyle Photo and Imaging in California.

B&H has some 135 in 24 exposure, but 135, 36 exp. and 120 are both out of stock. I see they are saying a new item, Kentmere Pan 200 in 100 ft rolls, is "coming soon."

Freestyle is out of Kentmere Pan 200 in 120. They have 135 in both 24 exp. and 36 exp. but the 36 exp. is flagged as "low stock."

It's out of stock in the UK on Ilford's own website.

The simple answer would be that they've sold the batch that they initially confectioned/ finished faster than expected.

Perhaps those in North America are waiting for the next boatload.

I am honestly delighted that Kentmere 200 is apparently doing better than Harman anticipated. I saw a huge amount of negativity about it on Reddit from people saying that there is absolutely no point in an ISO 200 Kentmere film when there are already ISO 100 and 400 films that can be pushed and pulled. Some people get really upset at the idea of there being new products.

No one has it in Canada. A bit annoyed but at the same time delighted that it sold out so quick. Hopefully stores will be restocked, as I want more!

Do you mean 120 or 35mm? The Camera Store in Calgary has 35mm, but no 120.

I'm really glad that they decided to go for a different look with 200. It makes it a different and interesting choice for people who jive with its style, and you get typical Ilford quality (aka excellent).

That being said I don't foresee myself frequently buying more after my initial order is all shot. It's good film, but I already was so in love with what kentmere 100 and 400 did for me that at the same price I'd rather shoot one of those. The notable exception is for my Pentax 17 where 400 is a bit too fast for full sun.

Yeah. I bought some mainly because I wanted to "vote with my wallet". But after those are gone, I'll wait until I can get the cheaper "Arista DX" re-brand. Arista DX 100 (i.e. Km 100) is $6.50 while the Kentmere-branded films are $8.

Yeah. I only shoot with a Pentax 17 and I live in a sunny part of the world, so I'm mainly experimenting with ISO 100-ish films.

Kentmere Pan 200 was not available in all the usual camera stores in Norway on launch, and many of the places that did have it have been sold out - certainly of 120. I wasn't able to get some at launch, but I hope I'll get it soon. One of the stores I use thinks they'll have a new shipment in about a week.

That's why I wrote nearly no shop. Anyway, not in 120. And quite expensive.

Ah yes apologies! Just noticed both points. Seems like it's just leftover stock then.

Well, I'd say it's fantastic news! A completely new black and white film product flying off the shelves - with all due respect to the usual old trombones who have been heralding the death of film photography for the past 20 years

I just stocked up on Kentmere 100 and 400 in 120 during the b&h BILD sale. $5.91/roll

Man. I'm bumped I missed that. Then again, if I had noticed it I'm not sure I would've taken advantage of it. I already have a large stack of film in the fridge to get through. I stocked up on a lot of AristaPan 100 at $4 / roll --- you can still get them at that price at FreeStyle if you are interested. AristaPan 100 is Wolfen NP100.

I think a lot of the time people think "I'm disappointed in this new product because it's not something that *I* need" and project that to it being "useless".

When Lomography started coming out with the funky colour films people literally screamed at how bad they were, how they should not exist etc. Yet they appealed to a certain userbase who bought and enjoyed them....and they probably helped pave the way for film that's closer to conventional colour film emerging via Inoviscoat.

Do I personally have a use for Kentmere 200? Not right now, I've got a couple of 100 foot loads of Fomapan 200 I like very much and am working my way through. Am I glad Kentmere 200 exists? You bet!

Exactly! Lomography's funky films probably did a lot to help keep film alive at a time when it came very close to death, and as you say, they probably paved for the new CN films coming from Ino now.

And that would be a person whose opinion you should not consider worth listening to.

I don't need tampons, for example. But they're not useless.
