FilmFerrania survey, please fill: Dead Link Removed
Dont need the orange mask with scanners.
The orange color is a result of a process to correct for shortcomings in the dyes formed by the colored couplers The process applies to scanning as well as optical printing.
b) You won't replace Ilford for my B+W (although I don't think you're trying, that's good).
Then why can Rollie make a non-orange base film?
Then why can Rollie make a non-orange base film?
-) one can use other means to cope with those shortcomings
-) unmasked films of today are originally designed for purposes that have other requirements to colour rendering than our applications
...we need a colour Ilford.
Any chance of getting some film that's Ferrari badged... maybe with the Ferrari logo?
Just scratch off the "a" and one leg of the "r".
Who is "our applications" because I for one hate C-41 specifically because of the orange mask, I can't just look at it and know it's good, the orange throws me off, it's ugly, it's one of the main reasons I use E-6 film instead...

How do slides have perfect colors without a mask?
Agfa does maskless negatives today. CN-200 has beautiful colors.
It allows dual use from a single stock.
Scan and inkjet for proof instead.
Slides have more colour errors than masked C41.
Masked C41 is not wonderful.
You are not being critical.
Steady! Nuke the "orange" mask at the preview scan step so you have a better, 'user-friendly' representation of colours. It's only a mask, nothing that will bite you on the bum.E6 emulsions have their own demons. I am more troubled by heavy blue casts on E6 emulsions from shooting in bright sun, for dire wont of better conditions. That sort of cast is very difficult to neutralise and 'see through' to the colour. Thankfully where I am now, in the cold and musty scrub by a beautiful creek with a few chutes and waterfalls, it's cool, grey, calm and overcast just perfect for RVP. Portra 160 is next in line for Pentaximus to chew on...
