Hoping it's P30 in 120.
Hoping it's P30 in 120.
I've enjoyed using P30.
Yaah-booh-sucks to those who insist Film Ferrania is dead.
I'd expect the new product to be P30 in 120 as they've previously said that was their next goal, after stabilising in-house production of P30 in 135 format.
Did they ever got P30 under control? Had 2 rolls and nothing to right home about. I guess they did not want to try an announcement on April 1st, Sunday is a good day anyways. I want to support them, hopefully they come up with a product that can go beyond "hey it's film, who cares if any good".
The only issues that I can recall was coating problems with their first run of P30. They sorted that out. I don't believe they ever had the attitude, "hey it's film, who cares if any good".
Haha me tooI'm just hoping I don't have to change the thread title to another: "As of March, 2023, Ferrania to announce ......."![]()
I have not followed Ferrania since the first batch came out and lucked out on 2 rolls. At the time my feelings were as in that "quote", film was expensive, seemed like created instant following, yet it had problems, photos and especially Ferrania's rhetoric felt like a typical catch-me-if-you-can ad campaign.
If they got this figured out, then it's good. I'll wait a bit and try it again, especially in 120.
Unless Ferrania feel that they can't sell as much 135 P30 as they would like or that they can coat more film than they can convert to 135, I think introducing P30 in 120 is not the smartest thing. At the moment, 135 is where it's at. I mean, with the exception of totally-committed-to-film Fuji, there is no shortage of 120 film, while 135 is basically unobtainium. Ok, things are a little better for BW, but still...
I really hope it's something else than P30 in 120, because, lets admit it, P30 would be be competing with Rollei Retro 80 (at half the price) in 120 market and supply constraints will not work in their favour as much as in 135.
FILM Ferrania is creating the world’s smallest full-service film factory with the in-house capability to research, design and manufacture color and black & white film for stills and cinema.
Maybe in the EU its different, but if I go to B&H, and look for B&W 135 film, pretty much everything you'd expect is available--TMX, TMY, TMZ, TriX, Delta 100, 400, 3200, HP5+, FP4+, Kentmere 100, 400, Foma/Arista100, 200, 400, Acros and lots of others. Color is different, of course. They may be caught up on demand on 135, and are looking to add customers who don't shoot 135.
I'm just hoping I don't have to change the thread title to another: "As of March, 2023, Ferrania to announce ......."![]()
Follow us on social media to be notified about a special launch event on Sunday, April 2nd.
It's possible that I'm wrong to assume we'll be told what the product is on Sunday, as the wording on the website is not quite clear about what exactly is happening that day:
So we might just be told about a launch event rather than what is being launched!
Doesn't the website say "new product"? So presumably this indicates an actual product will be announced but of course you are right that it may not be a film
However given that Ferrania may have some credibility to regain, I'd have thought that the last thing it might want to be accused of is a form of deliberate "hype" that turns out to be just that, namely "hype"
