According to their Facebook, available for order with delivery to suppliers actually anticipated for next week. I sure hope the suppliers are more than just those in Hipsterville!Mmm-hmm. Some truth there. I'll keep an eye out for the Ekta-hundred next time I'm hanging out in Hipsterville...
It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. Ektachrome died out since Velvia/Provia was generally superior (and cheaper) back in the day. I doubt that has changed much since then, and the market is much smaller. I just don't see the unique selling proposition of Ektachrome other than nostalgia. It would be nice if they could keep it going and begin a renaissance of film, since maybe that would lead to more and better emulsions being resurrected (plus-x, pan-x, TP, HIE, EIR, etc... we can dream)
I don't intend to develop, and mount my own slides. Had anyone announced that they will provide that service for the new Ektachrome? The last I had developed was develops by Kodak in Dallas (long gone)......Regards!Bravo.
I wonder how long before it shows up at Freestyle. It’s not in their catalog. Might just drop in and ask when I can find some freetime.
Yeah, Kodak Alaris is definitely trying to push the film "lifestyle" marketing more than the technical abilities... I hope the emulsion is as good as e100g was
I don't know how you could come to that conclusion, unless I've missed an announcement from Kodak that the beta test found no issues. The purpose of beta testing is to find problems and fix them, and then re-test. I haven't heard of any problems found, but if Kodak found something I imagine we'll be seeing a beta 2.0 or similar before production. Who knows, perhaps we'll be hearing news soon.
As for pricing, yes hopefully they will have a price similar to Fuji products, otherwise it'll be a challenge for them to hit their volume targets.
See :Did this all come to you in a dream?

Yes! And Snobsville. Possibly even Dullsville...
My key dealer is making room for stock due to arrive here on Monday 8th October.
I'll pick up a couple of rolls, even though I have a much, much stronger preference for 120.
Got to finish a roll of CMS II 20 in 35mm first. With two beta-testers away for the school holidays, I'm heaving off on my own roadie next week.

That is quite correct what you stated - but don't forget new buyers !I don't see anything remarkable, new or ground-breaking about this Ektachrome insofar as beta-test rolls show. It is very benign and typical of Ektachrome and in other respects all other E6 films. E6 is not a bumper market and I don't see how this little yellow and blue box is going to change that in the face of entrenched use of Fujifilm's excellent products. So yes, tugging at the forelocks of nostalgia, even in a vastly different target market where E6 has shrunk to 6% of local market take-up, is one way of putting it.
I'd love to see Plus-X, and HIE...especially the latter, come back.
Sorry I mixed it - so you metioned HIE (also a nice film, it was a little expensive in comparison to other bw infrared films, sad about discontinued) but what I meant is EIR see :I'd love to see Plus-X, and HIE...especially the latter, come back.
Here in Germany some prefer the newest model 5x5 mount. It is made by Diaspeed. I'm not sure about the long time stability as the filmstrip is constantly under tentionby some plastic part, which may loose their tension, the same time the frame may be warped. Time will tell.
