It's a niche product within a niche market. It will be what it will be. Writing in caps won't make it cheap or persuade your local convenience store to sell it.

It's hardly going to be difficult to buy it, when we all use the internet.

Kodak *have* said they will have film/process/scan packages for super 8 film when it comes. Whether they'll expand this to 135 and other formats is anyone's guess but we must remember that in the USA at least, Kodak once lost a lot of money in a court case which decided that offering film with processing included in the price was sharp practise.
Sorry about the caps. I didn’t mean to vex thee. The last local film retailer here, closed his doors this spring. I get everything mail order. I've got a fridge full so I order in the cool months. The Kodachrome monopoly case is ancient history, no problem with selling film with processing these days. Mailing might be more complicated. I hope it all works out. 120 is what I use the most .

Great news from Kodak! We should all rejoyce! I hope all the young hipsters around the world storm in and snatch this new Ektachrome from the shelves to make slides or cross-process it in C41 so we can have it back in 120 and sheet film. Kodak should put out a DIY E6 kit that would come with some sous-vide device to make E6 process more accessible. There would always be a good chunk of people prefering to get it processed at a commercial lab anyway, so no need to worry about preserving existing E6 labs.

... and the nonstop whining about the “entitled whiners” is just as boring and unproductive as the whining.

I'm in to whine about the whining about the whiners. Unless someone has beaten me to it and the I'll whine about them. :ninja:

I'm going to shoot it and have it cross-processed. To hell with waiting for E-6 processing. That's the more unique look, anyway, for my purposes, and I want to support this effort early and often.

One cannot rush these things.

Patience. I am still utterly staggered by the lack of patience some forum posters show.

I was not being impatient - merely cynical! I have stopped using E6. I only use C41 colour and B&W. Ektachrome in it's resurrected form was promised last year or did I imagine that in a dream?

No, you are 100% right. Even worse, Kodak announced the new Super 8mm camera two and a half years ago (Jan. 2016). A camera for sure they are not even going to build themselves; it will be contracted out similar to how Apple "builds" their iPhones. Even with this responsibility removed the camera is no where to be seen.

... and that’s not whining or bashing, simply statements of fact as we know them.

Some people appear to have problems with facts.

That’s because you ram those so called facts and pure opinion down people’s throats at every chance you get in the nastiest way a lot of us have ever seen. This is not a jab, it’s a fact....you are legendary in how incendiary you are.

I also see a different type of person using film in real life, very grateful and postiive people younger than 40 I will add.

I come here for the resources, the attitudes are truly depressing.

I started out shooting slides film back in the late 70's because I wanted to see what I got and not depending of the lab prints. I switched the color negative in the early 80's when I started to do my own darkroom work. I got rid of my darkroom a few years ago and now I would use slide film again.

... so have you seen or used the new film yet? No trying to give “attitude “ but sincerely curious.

People all have different experiences. In the past I’ve been anxiously awaiting product, getting a seemingly positive narrative of progress... only to never see he product. In one case “stuff happened “ and the product failed to materialize for external reasons; in another case it was a very cleverly scripted scam.

I’m certain that Kodak isn’t scamming but you really can’t blame folks for wanting more information or “tangible/credible” evidence (wrong word but hopefully you know what I’m driving at). Trust but verify...

My posts are 100% free of ANY vitriol. I simply state facts and opinions based off said facts. Certainly nothing I write is forced down people's throats. That's ludicrous. Your posts conversely, are 100% stuffed to the gills with relentless vitriol.

A response technique worthy of Roy Cohn and his currently well-known protege. When accused of something one is guilty of, deny, then accuse one's accuser(s) of the same thing. Insistent projection. Sad.

Guilty? L.M.F.A.O.

You are as deluded as as AI is.

Vicious personal attacks, something I never do. Ever. You two can't say the same.

Your attempt to smear me as a republican is as transparent as it is ineffective.

Some people here are so against slide film (because they don't use it, or don't like it, or don't think other people should like it nor use it) that they don't give credit for Kodak's words and even doubt what their eyes tell them when real people get the beta product in their hands and post a video showing it. I guest those same people also don't believe in the NASA footage of the Moon landing. Some people, when reality doesn't fit their ideas, they blame reality for not being true.

No one here says anything even remotely close to "you should not like or use slide film". I guess one has to make up a boogeymen man to make a point, however incoherent it may be.

What irks me, is how people can be negative about a new emulsion being put on the market. Whether or not you shoot slide, it's exciting. Some people are just fucking downers.

You were a lot wiser than I was then. In fact, only now am I realizing that if I want to see the image as I intended it, I cannot rely on a lab -- that is unless I want to pay for telling them how each print should look in terms of shadow detail, contrast, where to crop, etc.

I didn't understand people who used transparency film because I thought projecting images on a textured apartment wall or a beaded screen ruined the resolution of the image.

Now I'm interested in using Ektachrome, having the resultant image totally under my control regarding shadow, light, and image area. I'm still not planning on projection, I'm thinking of a small viewer of some sort.

I used to shoot several 100 foot rolls of Ektachrome a year. I have not used it for decades because it does not meet my needs. That does not mean that I do not want Ektachrome available. I would like to have Ektachrome easily available at a low enough cost to encourage use.

Apparently you hate Ektachrome and wish that no one would like it or use it.
