I looked into the Tools for PEX, and they were like $100 each.

One for 3/4" and 1/2" will run you $200 plus all the fittings etc...

If you buy the PEX tubing and use the SharkBite Connectors. Each Connector is like $6.00

I got 50 feet of white PEX tubing for like $15 and got the whole thing done for
about $100.

don't get the Sharkbite fittings at ACE hardware unless you have to, because they charge like 2x the price of the major stores. Ace and Truevalue are great in a pinch, but can't compete with the Depot and such.

I used mostly the Cash Acme Sharkbite fittings because I felt they were better built.

Wade manufacturing (Menards) have different fittings and they are good but they were not the quality I wanted. They were not as sturdily built (my opinion)..



My plan was to build a darkroom to process film, but in the process I have become an electrician, Plumber, Drywaller, Mudder (crummy one at that) and a carpenter. Someday I hope to be a good photographer.

New on this board and working on my first darkroom. My husband surprised my with all the equipment for Christmas, that he found on Freecycle...So here's what I got so far...

I've set up a bathroom darkroom until I have the time and resources to construct a more permanent solution in the basement.

As long as there is a lens in the enlarger, you should be good to go. I don't see a safelight, though?

I don't know if that was directed to me....but just in case

I have a safelight, but the bulb burned out when i plugged it in lol so have to go shopping..i still need paper..chemicals..a few other things but getting there

Here are some digisnaps I shot of my bathroom darkroom setup earlier this year. It is set up for when I use trays, and am printing 11x14 or smaller:.

The enlarger is a Beseler 67C with a dichroic head. The cart has enough room for the timer and negative cleaner seen on the stool, as well as a Rubbermaid tote that sits on the roll out shelf on the bottom of the cart, and holds my safelights, lenses, negative holders and various other useful accessories when I'm not doing the darkroom work itself.

The entire cart rolls out to the storage hall when not in use.

The shelving rack on the top of the tub is just wire shelving that you can have cut to fit at Home Depot.

There is room on the floor of the tub for a wash tray when I'm using 16x20 trays (which are a bit of a tight fit, but doable).

You can't really see it well from the photos, but the bathroom has two doorways - I block one with the enlarger.

It's a bit darker, when in use .

Yes that looks like it would do quite well. Good thing with no windows you have to block off. Seems like it is larger with that huge mirror.

Reason is the darkroom was not being used at the time I did the photographs. Sign goes on when I am using it !!

Nice attention to detail with the enlarger column and the flocking paper. I had thought of such things, but on my Omega 4x5s, the column is angled, so the angle on incidence is very large. Also reminds me of last year at this time when I was restoring my Durst. Its column has a bellows that performs a similar function to your flocking paper scroll.

I recently restored a Pioneer SA-800 integrated amp to put in my darkroom. I replaced the output transistors and the bias resistors. I replced some noisy preamp transistors and set the bias and DC offset. Also gave the controls a good cleaning. This system replaces a boom-box that I had in the darkroom. Sounds great.

You can't say you are new at photography with a setup like that !!

That is a nice setup. Can you explain the ceiling over the enlargers? Is it just plastic sheeting? I keep getting dust from my open ceiling over the enlargers.

The space is in an unfinished space in the basement; concrete walls and open ceilings. The ceiling is covered with 6 mil clear plastic to keep debris from the main floor and the overhead ductwork.
