New Darkroom

Last summer I build a completly new darkroom. I spend my whole holiday at this job and I'am very pleased with the result. The reason for this was my new 4x5" camera I bought in Germany in Februari. That saying means that I also need an enlarger for that kind of size and so on and on... At least I was sitting with my back against the door because all the new stuff takes more place so the plans for the new darkroom where born... To get some inspiration how other people solve the problems I looked many times at this thread and find a lot of things I used in my new darkroom. I hope others do the same with the pictures of my dr.

It IS a beauty indeed Harry!
Beautiful work.
If your prints are of the same quality (and I'm convinced, they are!) wow!!!

Kind regards

Probably not, as I don't know what Bawls is! I guess you are referring to the blue bottle--water (it was still early in the day!)
Sorry, Bawls is a caffinated drink made from guarana. It has sort of a cherry taste but with a kick.

VERY NICE.......!

(I wish my darkroom were so orderly.)
Did you build the sink yourself?

My darkroom with Durst Pictochrom

This is my darkroom. If someone have expirience with this enlarger, please contact me.
As You see, this furniture is made by myself, only the sink is custom made from nearest company, which works large kitchens (rostfrei).
Peter.

reflections off the walls from enlargers suppossedly cause fogging. I say that because I have not painted my walls black and see no fogging. Some enlargers allow more light to splatter than others.

Saw this thread about darkroom portraits and thought I'd add a pic of mine when it was shiny and new. It is the 8th version I have built and my favorite yet. Always wanted a stainless sink and compressed air piped in. It is a pleasure to work in here!

Here's my darkroom, I use 2 rooms for it. One dry for print, negative and paper storage as well as for mounting the negative to the negative carrier. You can see my drying racks above the fire safes that I store my negs in. To the left of them is a light box and additional neg files.

The other room is the wet room. Both rooms have fire doors which are light tight so I can use the dry room as a light trap so that I can go in or out of the dark whenever I want, or I can leave the door between them open so that I can access paper or materials easier.

And clean....too clean.
Curious to see which images the owner of the darkroom produces.

Thanks Lee, Thomas and Fred. I'm still not totally set in there yet, still tweaking the set up. It never really ends does it?

New darkroom under costruction

Well retired and empty nesting it these days, we moved to a new house just under two years ago. Since then I have been without my own darkroom facilities... nor acess to one for the first time in nearly 40 years... can you spell F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-ON? Well, the front veranda and back deck had to be finished (cedar) after the "basic lawn and flower beds "were put down... then the 6-foot cedar fence around the back garden had to be constructed to keep 'He With 4 legs and Tail' some freedom.... within home territory. My part-time courses towards my BFA (hopefully sort of 'majoring' in non-silver work rather than painting, sculpture etc.) has been taking up quite a bit of cash left over from the pension.. but from here on in... it is completely free.

Behold... Santa came a few days early and dropped off some 2x4's and screws and while my hands have a few spruce skelfs and a couple of blisters, heart and enthusiasm are already "renewed".

This time around I have decided to have a small 7'x6' ante-room with a bench for my UV light box, print dring rack, and lockable dry chemical storage cupboard.
