Thank you for this. Was shooting with my Contax II last week and was very wary about the metal ring.

What a fine example of how the good folks on this forum help each other. Someone looking for a way to help themself shoot an old odd camera and somebody else on this forum has just the answer for them! Pretty cool!

I will share that I have been using "Silicone Tubing 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD Black" from Amazon and cut them just longer than the threaded part of the viewfinder. The tubing is a small enough diameter to grip the threads and stays on remarkably well and costs fractions of a cent per application. That said, it would be nice to have something that looked more purpose built.
