Nikon FM2n, AI Nikkor 50mm f/1.8S, Ultrafine eXtreme 400, developed in LegacyPro L110 at 1:31 for 5.5 minutes. Three individual black and white frames shot through Tiffen #25 Red, #58 Green, and #47 Blue filters, respectively, then combined using GIMP to create a trichrome color image.

You're getting such great results with your unique color here. They're lovely on my screen and I'd enjoy seeing one on paper to see how it translates.

Yeah, that's really nice color. I don't have the computer skills or patience. Definitely a very nice finished image.

Beautiful photo. I love the 3 D effect of the lighting on the pinkish (on my screen anyway) rose and the lovely depth of field.
It is definitely a vintage/retro look.

Thank you, @mshchem! I can't help with the patience, but the computer skills needed are not extensive. I'm using GIMP because it's free, but I think there are easier ways to create trichromy using other software. For example, I believe Photoshop can automatically align the three stacked images, which is the most tedious part of the post-processing.

Thank you, @foc! According to my notes, I had enough window light to stop down the lens to f/4.

@dourbalistar, I wanted to thank you... There are a couple different pages out there that list different combinations of filters, but I went with yours because I liked the colors you were getting.

My first test shot came out surprisingly well:

3 shots FP4+ 125, Tiffen #25 / #47 / #58, combined / stacked in Affinity Photo.

@grat, that looks excellent! I won't take all the credit, since I followed another helpful suggestion online (but of course now I can't find the reference...). Look forward to seeing more examples!

How have I not come across this thread before now? I love this process and have been doing it with Medium Format, Large Format and Ultra Large Format over the last year. I'll gather up some images and post them to this thread.

Some of my images I've made over the last year. I've really enjoyed exploring and experimenting with the process. It's fascinating how it works and how you can use the technique to create images that are not picture postcards (but you can do that also). I would recommend to anyone playing with it for a while and see what happens. I've learnt so much about my photography doing this. Ask me any questions about this and feel free to critique these images if you like.

Yep, just use 3 separate C/M/Y exposures of the corresponding negative onto an RA-4 sheet. Otherwise composite the three channels via a process of your choice (gum, instax, etc). Blue / yellow separations on ortho film will yield 2 channels if 3 is too many to deal with.

But lining them up, my dear Mr. Dugnutt?
Aligning the three film channels accurately would be nigh on impossible, right?
Even if you include three or more sync marks at the edge of the frame in tack sharp focus, it could still be a huge problem.
Early three strip Technicolor got around it with sprocket holes and not really giving a huge fuck.

lining up i think would be pretty nifty if you had a beseler 35mm film strip system that used a sprocket in the film to align it..

however MOST of the photos are really similar to out of focus or just really old color shots.
