The first coating was our first run on the big machine.
We undershot our target by about 1/2 to 1 F-Stop so we started touching the emulsions again and this is the reason for the current delay.
The film is usable and not worse than 5 year old APX out there but base fogg will be lower and speed will be increased in the final product.
Kind regards,
Mirko
Michael,
the film is sold below our production costs to regain at least some of the money tied up in the materials used to manufacture it.
Thus we can´t put it through a distribution chain.
You are welcome to order the film straight of Fotoimpex at our usual fixed shipping fee of 20 USD per parcel to the US.
Ofcourse this only makes sense once you take a few more rolls....
Thanky you,
Mirko
110 is solely a confectioning issue.
Mirko
Mirko,
Where in the web store is it? I can't find the film there anywhere. Do you have a link?

Would anyone be interested in a group buy to make the shipping costs more palatable? Of course, redistribution shipping once it got to one of our houses may very well eat up the savings on shipping from Europe. Kind of a Catch-22 there.

By confectioning, you are talking about getting the film into the cassettes? Also, is there still going to a color 110 film?
Patrick
We are talking about:
-trimming 35mm pancakes to 32mm in ultra high precision
-slitting 32mm in 2x16mm
-apllying the unique 110 perforation
-remanufacturing the cassette body, cover and spool
-remanufacturing the backing paper, choping the backing paper, cutting out the edge so the film stripe gets caught after the last frame
-spooling the backing paper together with the film into the feeding compartement
-attaching the end of the backing paper to the spool
-welding the casette shut
-packing the product
-labeling the product
Not trivial but dooable.
Yes colour, 200 ASA, B/W later.
Kind regards,
Mirko
Unless there's been a huge breakthrough/improvement in emulsion technology, 120 APX 400 doesn't compare very favorably with Kodak TMax400(TMY-2).
Mirko, it is great that apx400 is being introduced! I guess this is similar to Tmax. How good is iso push ability up to 3200? (with D76 and rodinal)
I was meaning to ask you about other alternative. I think CHS 100 is very interesting, how about produce iso 400 of this? Is it possible? It would be nice to have choice similar to Trix which offers easy iso push ability with look of typical grains.
Anyway, Im excited for new things!
