I read a 6 year old thread on some experiment with ortho film? There would be no point in me commenting. I believe I'll stick with my Fuji HRT green X ray film and Rodinal 1;100. i can go out and shoot that and end up with pictures every bit as good as crazy-expensive Pan film to where you couldn't hardly tell any difference.

Hello F4U! I used some X-ray film in the past, the surface wasn't smooth and it had emulsion on both sides of the film, and it scratched very easily. I ended up washing away one side of the emulsion with bleach to get a more clear image. Is that Fuji HRT like that also? Do you do anything special? Thanks.

Welcome aboard @AtlantaArist.
First of all, @F4U has a bit of a point in that responding to an old thread without adding anything new of substance is a bit...well, redundant. Feel free to revive old threads, but please do so if there's new material to add to it.

As to @grainyvision: they have drifted in and out of the community for a bit, I think, but have been off the radar from some time. Yes, I hope they'll return one day.

As to the question about x-ray film: I'd encourage you to start a new thread on this, as the present thread really is about something else. In general, I recognize your issues with x-ray film (the double-sided stuff) and I believe HRT is indeed also double sided. You may be able to find some single-sided x-ray film; the film intended specifically for mammography work is often/usually single-sided. However, it's much harder to find than the double-sided film and generally more expensive.

Maybe they got burnt out and went digital. Or was it was a Doctorate or Graduate research that ended?

Blasphemy! /j. Honestly I take a lot of pictures on my phone lol. I'm still around, lots of life stuff happened and a lot of backups lost. The website isn't coming back unfortunately because I have no backup of it nor most of the scans I used. Fortunately it's on the waybackmachine (check dates around 2022).

Honestly just taking it easier in life and enjoying exploration of the pacific northwest more than staying inside. I am shooting film again since there's so much beauty to see around here, but not really doing much for chemistry other than basic development stuff. Tbh only film cameras to survive my life events were a Holga 120N and an Olympus XA2 and they're what I use mostly. Though I'll have a 35mm SLR soon again (Nikon FE2) that I'm real excited about. Most exciting thing I've done with chemistry recently is try out Adox's 110 syrup to verify it was practically the same as HC110 (and really I just needed a developer that's ok with sitting on the shelf a while lol). I don't have a darkroom anymore, nor chemistry equipment nor most of my old cameras, film etc (in theory I have almost all my old negatives, but scanning them all would be a monumental effort). I might get back into some chemistry stuff again, but I feel there's no fun of "impossibility" to chase out these days since I figured out everything I wanted in regards to ortho litho, lith printing, and C-41 reversal processing.

Next productive post on here I'll make will be my new 3D printed DSLR scanning rig. I'm still getting the models and prints just right but getting pretty close.

Honestly I wish I had some of my custom cut 120 ortho litho film. Stuff was amazing when I got it right... but ugh. I'm definitely not dealing with cutting film from sheets like that again in this life. That was some very frustrating stuff.
