The manual focus lenses need to be hand focused. I use the previous lens to set the aperture on the f/2.8 PC manual focus lens and watch the change in the light meter output to see if I need to adjust the aperture after moving the lens off axis.

The board has to be level and the column vertical, check both with a spirit level.

If as you posted using water is so effective, why was so much money used in research and development for stop bath, as though there is no purpose for stop bath. There is a logical disjunction.

As posted above, look at alignment issues: the lamp in the center of the optics, optics stacked vertically and in line and not askew, ...

Water stop bath is not stop bath, it is water used instead of stop bath and that is the heart of the discussion.

O rings and Nikonos grease is not all that expensive. O rings wear and also get compressed just from having the lens in place.

So when a new method or product has be inverted, then one should never use it because it was never used before, right? 😕

But that does not stop the film development nearly as quickly as stop bath. Why would Kodak, Ansco and many others spend large amounts of money of R&D research for stop bath. Are you saying that they were addlepated?

And who is going to do exhaustive scientific tests with and without stop bath?

And remember to use the correct silicon grease on the O rings.

Consider the F100, with your experience I think that you will enjoy the camera more with those lenses.
